I also think AM went too far with the new AM... Older ones like my 08 Roadster have an elegance that Porsches don’t have and that is their niche. But now?

But now? They went Japanese with the front end design.

The Aston character is gone. The headlamps are butt ugly and the new grill is shit. And I haven't even gotten to the interior yet.

    Re: [2019] Aston Martin Vantage

Have you considered an AMG GT-C, English? Pretty similar proposition IMO. The Aston is a bit more unique and exotic, but also probably a bit more expensive.

    Re: [2019] Aston Martin Vantage

AMG GTR maybe to replace my GT3 - a big maybe - but in general the GT isn’t my style.

‘The AM is a bit more my liking due to it being more elegant and sophisticated. Obviously wouldn’t replace my GT3 but a good second weekend car for me.

    Re: [2019] Aston Martin Vantage

I have seen this car in Geneva, really nice looking car. Much better in proportion compared to the DP11. A bit strange is the fact that the engine is put extremely to the center of the car which compromises a bit the space in the cabin. For this reason there is nog glove compartment in the dashboard. But all in all a nice car!

When I saw this car in a video for the first time, I was a bit torn. It looks special enough to recognize it (which is good) but somehow it feels as if the designers tried too hard, it is difficult to explain. The interior is nice (I love that massive Alcantara approach) but the infotainment system seems to be outdated (previous Mercedes version), the middle console reminds me a little bit of the AMG GT (somehow) and the steering wheel is just plain ugly.

I have to admit that I would probably prefer to get the "real" thing (AMG GT) instead but if priced right (and discounted Smiley), I could definitely seem myself in one of these. Unfortunately, I think that an AMG GT makes more sense, from a reliability/maintenance point of view and from a cost point of view.

    Re: [2019] Aston Martin Vantage

indecision Agree:-> that's why I bougth the the AMG GT-C after my visit to Geneva.  Better to buy a real Mercedes compared to "a bit older" Mercedes technology with a Aston Martin body at a higher price.

    Re: [2019] Aston Martin Vantage

probably 'trying too hard' best sums up whats going on at aston.....and along the way they have lost their track...

    Re: [2019] Aston Martin Vantage

One vascilates from like to dislike over this new AM as the exterior design language seems extremely color sensitive and the launch color being a disservice to the car overall.   Need to spend time with the car before being able to decide upon it but the Merc GT-C remains more appealing

    Re: [2019] Aston Martin Vantage

Aston should not have gotten into the performance sport car segment. I believe the James Bond movies took them down this path and to their detriment. AM is known to be gentlemen cars sophisticated styling and elegance. It’s geared toward the more mature male market and identified as such. With this car they are trying to compete in a market demographic which is not their strong suit.

    Re: [2019] Aston Martin Vantage

They'd be out of business with even less performance...

Totally agree and that’s why I specced my dark red Aston with light brown leather and mahogany center console, and chose the semi automated gearbox vs manual. Performance was outdated even before buying the car so that solves that problem Smiley

    Re: [2019] Aston Martin Vantage

I never really liked AM, too comfy, too much of a gentlemen's kind of car but after I test-drove the AM V12 Vantage S, I would have bought this car on the spot if I had enough money for another weekend fun car. What a joy to drive, very emotional car. That engine/exhaust sound...oh boy.

fully agrre with you....they were sitting in a niche alongside Bentley.....and they should have upped the game within that niche instead of sidestepping...

buying my rapide s was a pure emotional decision not driven by performance spec....v12 yes....6 litres yes....but not actual performance or cornering figures....
