    997TT Facelift

Looks like the 2009 Porsche 911 Turbo is getting a little touch up. This prototype spotted in Germany looks like the current model, but we noticed a few minor changes that indicate an imminent midcycle refresh. The front end is unmolested as far as we can tell, but the rear end has new taillights with LEDs and a slightly different lens arrangement. Reshaped tailpipes indicate a reworked exhaust, so there could be a few extra horsepower on tap for a car that's already one of the fastest we've ever tested. Look for an official debut early next year.

    Re: 997TT Facelift

Exhaust looks like they are trying to mimic the lines of the new tail light lenses. I don't know why they even bothered.

    Re: 997TT Facelift

TG - I was getting worried! Going to replace my 997S next year and was worried there wasn't going to be a fresh of the TT until 2009....

    Re: 997TT Facelift

    Thanks, Ron!

I was hoping to see some pictures of the 997TT facelift.

    Re: 997TT Facelift

Let's see if there are any new signif tech advances....PDK, PSE, or turbo lag reduc???....or if P R&D continues to doze vs F/AMG's continued innovations....

Suspect '09 SL63 Blk Series may launch Spr08 as well....997TT 2.0 (if shows any competitive tech advances) and 4000lb fixed-roof SL63BS could be good pairing of daily commuter cars vs Scud as wkend twisties car....

Thanks so much for the pics!

That's very hot! I love it, plus the new exhaust probably produce better sound and more hp.

Any news about the new CF GT2 seats? Do you think that will be part of the option for new TT?

What about something like Ipod etc? Any new things for the face-lifted version?

I must say that I am very, very dissapointed with this test mule... Why? There WILL be a 997 Turbo facelift according to these pics... And even new 997 GT2 could be affected with this facelift stuff from MY09 so, imagine feelings of future 997 GT2 owners...

OK. Let's hope that this facelift is not only cosmetical thing for both 997 Turbo and GT2. BUT, Porsche just introduced GT2... Facelift in less then one year?
    Money, money, money... I guess...

    Geneva 2008 or Paris 2008?

BTW, GT2 seats are already available as an option for all 997 models...

    Re: 997TT Facelift

It was for sure, that they will bring the LED Taillights not only on the Carrera's!

Thanks for the Pictures! It will be much more interesting what else they change (corner lights, etc.)

    Re: 997TT Facelift

    Interesting, but makes sense.

Tricky for Porsche to play that facelift without annoying turbo (or GT2) owners who just bought the car 1-2 years before MY09.

I could imagine turbo stays technically the same (480 hp), just PSE available or even a redesigned exhaust as standard. Beside that, they could finally introduce the long expected turbo s (510hp/515hp) with the facelift. With that could keep the model line stable as in the past.

Its hard to imagine that the turbo gets the new rear design 1 year later than the carreras.

    Re: 997TT Facelift

BTW - the front lights will have a completly new mimic, too!

    Re: 997TT Facelift

Why Porsche trying to do facelift in 2 years.

If i ve been a 997TT owner , i would be very dissapointed.

The LED lights might be good but Porsche should have done this before

Do you know the price for that?

My dealer don't have this info yet.

What's the different between Turbo S and Turbo?

    It's just hp upgraded?

From those pics you can see PCCB, which COULD be the Turbo S and it comes as a standard brake. And 30hp~ extra + few other options

There is a lot of info on this thread:

    Re: 997TT Facelift

I think too to the Turbo S,but don't know what to tell..

997 Turbo is from only an year on sale, the Turbo Cabrio is not again from a month in production..and if this is a restyling testmule is really DISAPPOINTING!

Porsche is doing the same way of Audi,a restyling every 6 months

LED lights, corner lights, maybe some sort of nightvision/head display system (not 100% yet).
Unfortunately, the 997 Turbo won't get a significant power upgrade, maybe a couple of horses (up to 495) but nothing more. Actually, the latest info is: no power upgrade at all.
To satisfy power hungry people, the powerkit should be available shortly after facelift introduction next year.

    Re: 997TT Facelift

    From "auto, motor & sport":

"Porsche 997 Turbo Facelift: Optisch wird sich in Sachen Facelift wenig tun, lediglich die Heckleuchten sowie der Heckspoiler erhalten eine neue Form. Der Turbo wird das erste Modell der 911-Baureihe sein, in dem das neuentwickelte Direktschaltgetriebe zum Einsatz kommen wird."

translation in context...only slight optical changes with facelift (rear lights in LED plus a different style for the rear wing....). The 911 turbo will be the first car introducing the direct gearbox (=PDK).

    You think no PDK yet...?

    Re: 997TT Facelift

I forgot to mention: the 997 Turbo facelift isn't "official" yet, just the 997 Carrera facelift. Maybe there is still a good chance that no facelift is coming, the most p.ss.d off customers would be 997 Turbo Cab customers and especially GT2 customers. I can't imagine that Porsche didn't think about it.

    Re: 997TT Facelift

I am sure few people in Zuffenhausen will read that forum, which represents the essence of porsche fans and drivers... may be that moves something...

    Re: 997TT Facelift

I had hoped they would have deleted those fugly foglights. These warts spoil the beautiful lines of the car.
Could it be they won't have a facelift for the GT2, just like they did with the 996 turbo?

    Re: 997TT Facelift

Anyone knows when will those face-lift version on sale?

Can't wait to get this Turbo!

I think the carrera and turbo must have the face-lift.

    And the GT2/3/RS no.

According to email that I just receive from my Motorpresse friend there will be 997 Turbo facelift. Your info is accurate as always...
It seems that new GT2 will be facelifted as well-I do not know what to say about that...

Perhaps they'll change those vertical louvred vents in the tail.

    Re: 997TT Facelift

Could be re-fresh but couldn't it also be the turbo S?

Car has PCCB's,,,I know it could just be refresh w/ optional PCCB's but... Isn't it about the time they would start testing the S?

ps: Don't like the new rear tail lights at all. The LED's are going to be cool but the shape is awful imho. Weird, one of the best things about the exterior of the 997 they're going to screw up.

You can already select the CF seats for the Turbo, they're pictured in the 2008 turbo brochure:

Yeah, I'm not crazy about the new tail lights. It's going to take getting use to. I wonder how the design of such things gets approved.

It looks like a forced change for the sake of a change rather than based on a design improvement. The Turbo is far from a beautiful car but the rear of the car where the wing, tail lights & rear deck lid, back bumper (above the exhaust outlets) meet is my favorite part of the car. imho they're screwing with one of the nicest parts of the turbo for the worse. These new lights look like someone left camo on the car.
