    Turbo S - advice needed

    Hi All

just found out that I'm registered here since 2003 ... without a single post and without a Porsche for quite some time, but enjoying Rennteam a lot.

Despite the GT2 RS/GT3 (RS) I ordered a Turbo S but  I'm unsure about the "Power Steering Plus". There was a discussing about it before the "big delete", but I can't remember  the outcome (likely age related). I tend to not like electronic steering and are somewhat concerned that "steering plus" will make it worse.

    Thanks for any advice Smiley

    Cheers
Rick (Munich area, no chest hair )

Re: Turbo S - advice needed

I would definitely recomment it. Much, much better than the standard steering that I had on my previous Turbo S. Absolutely not artificial and that's even in comparison with the GT3 RS.

If you are driving very often in the city, the Power Steering Plus could make sense. Otherwise, forget about it. The car feels "sportier" without it since it makes the steering very light at slower speeds.

Maybe this helps: As far as I remember, Power Steering Plus is retrofittable. Check with your dealer about it. If so, order the car without Power Steering Plus and if you don't like the steering, just retrofit the Power Steering Plus.

In the latest 991.2 Turbo S, the Power Steering Plus feels better than in the 991.1 Turbo S in my opinion but it really is a matter of personal preferences and perception.

Thanks RC, not much city driving for me.

power steering plus is the work of evil ..

    isn't just software?

Re: Turbo S - advice needed

It's likely they improved it in the mk2, but I tried it in the mk1 Carrera and personally I hated it... Besides, it's a solution to a problem that doesn't exist, I don't see why I would ever need a lighter steering at slow speeds or when parking than the regular steering, it takes no effort at all! yes

Herbaliser, overlooked your answer, sorry.  Seems like I have to try both myself. Love the steering of the GT3 RS

I had power steering plus on my previous 991 C4S. I think it was doing its job (whatever it was?) without interfering with steering feel, but I probably would not tick that options box for the next car.

More worrying is the lack of chest hair. Therapy is needed buddy. Luckily you have some of the manliest, most butch and most rugged sports car drivers on the planet here.

Thanks all for the kind words. I'm traveling this week and may pick it up on Sat with winter wheels. I already asked my dealer about the update, but he isn't aware of anything, but I'll certainly get some chest hair next spring :) .

Are we talking about chest hair transplant or the Turbo S?

Congrats on the car! Please give us your driving impression once you have had some miles on it. Btw, I’m trying to remember where the chest hair reference came from, but i think it would have been the fitness thread?

Joost, I missed the chest hair emoji too and did the same ... with similar results.Might be the right time to open a thread in the "RT Dev" section :)

For now power is enough for me. Maybe next year I'll have a closer look at some of the local tuners. But I'll change the steering wheel (too thin) and the paddle shifters (too small) asap.
