Porsche's weak showing at the Frankfurt Auto Show?

Is anyone else disappointed with the showing of Porsche at the Frankfurt Auto Show?

It just seems like a bunch of design editions with no substance. Maybe I was expecting to much but this is in their backyard afterall.

Porsche has always been known for their "parts bin excersizing", creating "special editions" that are not so special and that no one asked for.

At least we got some great shots of the GT2

This is the off year...Looking forward to introduction of the Panamera and refresh of the 911 & Boxster at next years show.

All the leading Journals stated that Porsche will be rolling out their new Boxster at the 2007 Frankfurt Show. Wrong! I still believe we will something new before not too long.

December for 997 & 987 facelift. (sad they couldn't show at Frankfurt...)

How definite is this information? I am planning to order a new boxster this winter for spring/summer delivery. I am more than willing to wait a few months for delivery if new model year comes a little early. Thanks.

Many were guessing that new 2009 987 production would start earlier than the August production start. Possibly March/April production. All I know is that 2008 987 production is continuing into January at the very least.

Anyone care to make an educated guess as to when the facelifted 987 with Direct Fuel Injecton will start production? As I recall, Porsche made a press release in Oct. 2004 of the 2005 987, which became available in March 2005.

Yes, I believe that the MY04 was a shortened run.

No, MY04 was a long run. The MY05 had a late introduction (January versus September) and a short MY.

I believe BSL is correct, and my earlier post regarding MY04's incorrect. But it does appear that MY08 Boxsters may be a short model year if the facelifted MY09's becomes available in March of 2008.

Is it possible that the face lift will emerge at the Geneva Motor Show next March? If so, would they do their shutdown before the normal August - seems unlikely.

For what it's worth, the facelift 03 model of the 986 boxster came out in the later part of the year september/october, just like a normal car. I took delivery of mine, one of the first back in the day, in October 03.
