GT3 engine noise

GT3 owners: Do you have a metallic, vibrating, rattling sound when your engine passes about 2000 rpm? The sound in my car starts about 1800 and quiets down approaching 3000.

My dealer tech listened to it, acknowledged it was there, but said it wasn't out of the ordinary.

So how does your engine sound running through 2000 rpm?

They all do that.
The MkII GT3 did the same only it's noice started at 2000 and went away at 2200. My new RS does the same thing.
It's normal.

What is it? Where is the noise coming from? It sounds like gears turning?

yeah i know it sounds metallic.
Im not sure where it comes from, somehow i remember my mechanic saying that it came from the induction system Porsche uses - Im not 100% though.

There have been a number of post on here about the very same condition. If everyone has it, I would presume it to be a normal condition.

Let's keep in mind, the GT3 isn't going to be as smooth and mechanically refined as the standard issue 911, so a few quirky wines, sweaks, and rattles unacceptable in regular car will pass in a track specific version.

The noise sounds like turning gears, with some rattling and vibration too. Can anyone direct us to the post where this was discussed before? Or does anyone know more specifically where the noise is coming from?

Mine makes all those noise too plus a few more especially when starting after a week or so. A very noisy motor.
Part of it is the LSD which i believe is pretty noisy.
