Apparently it was a technical issue, the car didn't hit anything. Smiley

Yes, the F12 tdf is a beast but this time, it seems the driver did nothing wrong.

This is a real tragedy for the owner Smiley,  my heart goes out to him just as long as they had not been doing some stupid repeated high revving beforehand a la Aventador owners.

If he can prove that it was a technical issue (preliminary investigation indicates some sort of engine failure), maybe Ferrari is willing to build him a new one? Only question is: Can they? Would they? Not very likely I guess. Maybe he gets on the list for the next limited edition thing but I assume the owner loved this car?

Also, there could be insurance issues depending on the insurance he had: If he is unlucky, he gets the value of the new car only. If he is lucky, he gets the "Zeitwert" (basically meaning the value the car was worth at the time of the damage, which should be definitely more than Ferrari's normal price tag).

Yep - this is the key point. The Limited Edition cars need to be insured for an agreed value rather than market value. The right number in the UK is currently around £800K for agreed value.

Re: Ferrari F12 Berlinetta / 599 GTO Successor

This is not that easy to do though. I am trying to get my manual 612 insured for “market value” but it is such a small market. LOL.

Where I was a bit lukewarm towards 612's when they came out, they're really growing on me now, so elegant compared  to recent Ferrari's... Smiley

In the USA 612 prices seem to have bottomed out. Good examples are back above $100k from a $75k low. Indeed the lines are aging nicely and the interior is holding out very well, much better then pre 2003 cars. Maintenance is also reasonable for cars that old. Manuals are on a whole other level as far as asking prices but I don’t know of one that traded in the $300s.

Re: Ferrari F12 Berlinetta / 599 GTO Successor

Hope he had it insured at agreed value, otherwise he just like like $500K. Wouldn't surprise me if he didn't do that though. People are always quick to save a buck thinking it will never happen.

True... Maybe if he can prove a technical issue from the factory but I doubt it.

If it was serviced / modified by a third party, he won't be getting anything new or refurbished from Ferrari Smiley

A couple of years ago there was a Ferrari gathering setup by Ferrari Club and a 599 was surrounded by fire rescue team, after some investigations, it turns out the owner was revving the hell out of the engine non-stop just to grab everyone's attention and that he did when his ride turned into an inferno.

I wouldn't trust my insurance company to make an accurate assessment of market value.  This is why a Stated Value or Agreed Value policy is best.  Then you know exactly the dollar amount that you will receive in the event of loss.  You just need a professional appraisal.  If the market changes, you can get a new appraisal and amend the stated/agreed value on the policy (with new premiums).  Most Classic or Collectible policies work this way.

I took delivery of the TDF today. Its been a long time coming but it is everything I hoped for. I have not driven it much yet but its clear that the engine note and response is much more aggressive than the F12, the suspension is taut and purposeful and the gear change a joy. More driving impressions in due course but here are some shots of the very special paintwork in different light conditions. I know already this is going to be one of my favourite cars. Enjoy...

That is an extremely cool spec! Whow... Also really great you resisted going for colored calipers. Isn't this one of the very last tdf's?

This ought to be a keeper for sure!

Cool. You've been waiting for this forever. If you ever go to sell it, you've got a good customer base of buyers with those flag colors ;)

I'm not usually a fan of Ferrari styling but I love this car's lines, IMO the best looking Ferrari in a long time. And that engine must be a treat. Congrats! wink

Interesting. Not sure how I feel about the netting in the door. From a usability standpoint, I think it's better and easier to access, but it just looks off to me. I don't really store stuff in my door anyway.

angelangelangel  Absolutely beautiful and you got the color and details so perfect ! You are a master in choosing and setting up the color themes kiss  This cas is probably also one of my favorite you own .  I saw a white one for sale the other day at a place near by , ( selling at 1M  CHF )  and loved to white and back on the car but the addition of the '' french flag'' makes such a difference .   The other color I love on the TDF is  dark blue .
