Here is something interesting,
I had Jacques drove my car today. (Jacques Villeneuve)
Afer he got off the track, I said to him the car is probably too heavy for him, (he drove the P1 last year at the track). He said yes while the car is too heavy, there are some extra moments on track that he tried to avoid because of the weight, but between the P1 last year and my 918 this year, he much prefer the 918, his exact comment is that the 918 reacts like a race car on track, he knows what the car will do at any given tine, the P1 he drove last year was like a "brat" compared with the 918, with the 918 he knows he can control the car, with the P1 he knows he can't control it.
Heading home now from the track and flying to Montreal for the F1 race on Thursday.

If you let me drive your 918, I will give you a much better report than what Jacques can offer
The question is was he fast in it? Laptime? Did you ride in it with him while he drove it? I hope he signed the dash!!!!

Yeah he was hot lapping,
He did a few sessions, think approximately 20 laps in the car. Another 20 or so in the GT4 ClubSport.
And no I didn't ride with him, we had a visitor from the FIA and Jacques took him around the track a few times. We are trying to get the Level 2 certification.
he didn't sign the 918, but he signed the ClubSport.

Whoopsy:Ramin:What kind of laptimes did he put down?
That's the million dollar question isn't it?
He was comfortably faster than what I can achieved. And he was taking passengers.
Look up a few posts. The g-,meter was his. I only maxed out at 1.3 left and right.
You can always put up better lap times if you don’t care about crashing the car you’re driving I guess.

Time for a 918 update!
My foreman just sent me these.
The car is due for it's 4th year service, and a recall campaign.
It's pretty much naked, all the panels are off the car except the hood and the front bumper.
The service require the MAP sensors to be replaced and the only way to get to them is to take everything off. Including the radiators AND oil coolers.
I think I am getting used to seeing my car naked like that.
bridggar:Hate to think what they charge for that service...
Yep...I thought the same. Just imagine 10 years have passed, no warranty, nothing and you need to pay for this. A nightmare.

The saying goes that "if you have to ask (think) you can't afford it"
Got offered a 918 at a time I could have afforded the car itself but I knew that I could never afford owning it.

I’m not so certain it is not affordable. If played correctly with all the gt models you are first in line to buy one could have managed this as a nice little investment. Whoopsy has done very well. In the end he will not just drive for free but he will make money for his fun. Good on him.

Of course this car is affordable...if you have the proper regular income. My income fluctuates and based on my regular(!) income, I couldn't afford this car. I love cars but I am not (financially) suicidal.

MAP sensors are quite cheap and easy to replace with a screwdriver, assuming you can get to them. Too bad parts are so difficult to access on this car...
