Are you sure this is a facelifted model?
Could it be someone who just made some body mods to his 997?
The front looks like mine after fitting the Speedart 2-piece front lip spoiler. Also, where is the rear diffuser?
How was it camouflaged?-it looks normal.

personally, it doesn't make sense to me that porsche would show a revised 997 in september if they're hoping to sell current models through the fall and winter... my guess is that if they're going to come out with a 997 face-lift next spring as an "early" 2009 model it'll be shown late next winter or in spring of 2008.

perhaps we can get a sense by looking at when the Cayenne was officially shown at an autoshow, and when did they stop production of the then current model and when did it hit dealers?

To early to speculate, the face lifted hasn't even hit the showroom floors yet. It will most likely live on 3-4 years after the face lift.

Rumours vary between a 20 and 45hp increase. The higher power output of up to 400hp for the Carrera S is the newest rumour and seems to be rather likely. This seems quite reliable since the engine will become direct injection. That would also explain the early production stop for the GT3/RS because the difference between the FL-Carrera S and GT3/RS will be too small. Also remember the massive power increase of the Cayenne engines after they've got DI-engines.

yeah, though, i don't know how much of a threat R8 sales will be (my guess is it's a low volume car -- anyone know what the projections are?) so how much porsche will position the 997 to compete i don't know. also, it costs antoher 25 grand or so i believe (closer to the 997tt i think..) but the car got an incredible write up in EVO magazine recently.

I like the rear view, still have to get used to to the new fog light graphics at the front. Perhaps it will work without any camouflage. Also the bigger rear mirrors don't look as bad as once expected, at least in black.
With the 400hp-DI-engine in the Carrera S (if true), this will be a very tempting car.

. You're right with 400 hp I believe Porsche will sell these babies like there is no tomorrow.HP was what Porsche was lacking Vs. the competition. If CS comes with 400 hp I will be in the waiting list ASAP.

You are absolutely right. I am currently in a holding pattern regarding my next purchase. But, if PAG introduces the aforementioned 911, I'll be in queue ASAP!
