    2007 GT3 LATCH system

I am new to the community. I was able to secure a GT3 for delivery sometime in Nov! Does anyone have experience with the LATCH child-seat fastener sytem (part no. 997-044-800-13), and child-seat deactiviation switch (997-044-800-10)? Also, any experiecne with the Porsche Plus child-seat (955-044-801-03)? Yes, I know this is blasphemy, but I am being realistic that I will have to put my 4 year-old in the car on occasion.:w Thank you for any advise.

    Re: 2007 GT3 LATCH system

My four year old daughter is nearly as excited as I am for our GT3 to arrive in late Aug. - Early Sept. I too would be very interested in learning about the latch and air bag disconnect.

    Anyone??

    Re: 2007 GT3 LATCH system

My four year old already rides in the GT3...loves it, and wants his own...(already!!!!)

Passenger airbags deactivate based on weight - confirmed by telltale indicator light in center console.

Not sure about latch will check and revert...

    Re: 2007 GT3 LATCH system

You mean that thing in the front of the car ISN'T a child portation container? Dammit! I wondered why I always got strange looks when I pulled up to the day care.

    Re: 2007 GT3 LATCH system

I have a 7 month old daughter that rides in my front seat when her mom can't get to her in her Cayenne. I had the LATCH system and airbag deactivation switch installed. They both work great.

Originally, since there is a weight deactivation sensor in my 997, I only intended to have the LATCH system installed. However, I was told that Porsche requires the deactivation switch with the LATCH install. I have no reason to question my serive department because (1) they have always behaved ethically and (2) since no one had ever requested LATCH only, they had already committed to a price and installed the deactivation switch for free.

In hindsight, I'm glad that I have the deactivation switch. With the pressure of the tightened down child seat and the weight of my daughter, I'm not sure whether the weight sensor could be "fooled". It gives me peace of mind to know that my airbag is turned off. Also, I was told that the light on the console only relates to the weight auto deactivation. If you turn your airbag off with the switch and the weight requirements are met, the "Airbag Off" light will not be lit.

    Any questions?

    Re: 2007 GT3 LATCH system

    Thank you, tarheelbred.

Is it a clean install, where the LATCH anchor fastening loops are not visible?
Where are the anchor points for the loops?
I have a Britax, and the buckles are large. Will I have to "force" the buckle in inbetween the seat and backrest?
Can you please provide photos? Again, many thanks.

    Re: 2007 GT3 LATCH system

I will try to get photos this weekend, but I'll answer your questions now as best I can.

    (1) The install is very clean. I have to tell people that I have LATCH for them to notice. If you lean the passenger seat backrest forward, you can see the color-matched metal plate that goes across the back of the seat bottom. Again, you have to be looking for it. You really can't see the loops protruding between the seat bottom and back. If you look hard you can see slight separation, but again, I have to tell people that they're there for them to know.
    (2) The anchor points for the loops are provided by the metal plate that covers the back of the seat bottom. Picture a solid sheet of metal, formed to match the seat bottom, affixed to the seat at the sides and covering the back of the seat bottom, with the loops prodruding along the seat bottom through the slit between the top/back and the bottom of the seat.
    (3) I thought that all of the LATCH latches were the same, so I can't really comment on the Britax (I have a Peg). However, I have no difficulty sliding the catches in and out between the seat and backrest to latch them. The loops protrude enough (though not visible) to make this easy.

Hope this helps. If anything is unclear, let me know.

    Re: 2007 GT3 LATCH system

I just found the photo of the parts at carnewal.com. Just as you described above. Thank you for the information and tips.

Congratulations! Let us know how the car is, and of course, the LATCH. Must be killing you that you are out of town....

    Re: 2007 GT3 LATCH system

Sucks, But hopefully my salesman can help me out with the Latch, Clear Markers and Applying the Venture Shield before I get home.

    Can't Wait.
