I doubt car manufacturers will make cars smaller. Unfortunately.
IMO many cars are already too big.

But we can only hope for more light cars, especially when we are talking about sports cars. That makes models like the GT2/3, Superleggera or the new Scuderia so interesting.

This thread has now reached 43 pages of repetition! LMAO

Loops every 3 months about the new facelift coming the following week for sure (somebody knows somebody who knows for a fact), DFI with its increase of 100BHP+, DKG and various other mystical enhancements. None of which materialise as expected and then the game moves on. Queue repeat of debate and new definate timescale set which of course wont happen.

    Re: You can't

Ferrari has declared it is going greener (Ho ho) through weight saving and its recent concept showed this with shorter front overhangs and so on through use of composite instead of Aluminium.

A 998 with shorter overhangs and more of the size of the 964/993 a weight nearer 1100kg and even the current power would be the way I would like to see them go especially if they can do some more work on the floor to avoid big spoilers and DI/new materials gives some more efficient use of fuel.

If they did that, with smaller wheels brakes lighter materials like magnesium alloy, composites and alloy with a core still in steel for price - then for me they can regain the ground they have lost against the latest uber-saloons and take the game back to Ferrari et al. The facelift won't do that but the 998 should.

Mind you I still like the current car

Yes, that would be great. I'm totally with you! Go and tell it to the major Porsche-Member.

    Greetings from Germany too.

    Re: You can't

Everytime I see rear tail lights, they remember me to Aston Martin...
I can't understand why they do a restyling so early. I heat restylings. All of we know that the market needs changing.
But Porsche is a different brand to Ford or Vauxhall (they change their models every two years at least)

Think in those who purchased their cars (i.e. Targa model) and it will be changed very soon.

Why don't develop the car a bit slowly to launch the model without restyling?

I bet, when the 997 facelift loop-thread will come to an end, it will start all over again with the 991

That's what Porsche - and a couple of other German manufacturers - were known for. Marketing and the urge for bigger sales numbers play a role nowadays...

did you mean facelift 997 ?

Re: Wop There it is (sorta)

I wonder what it'll cost - might be a gamble having one of the first in terms of reliability.

Re: Wop There it is (sorta)

Berfes, do you have the pics of the interior?
Where did you read or see it?
    Please post the link!

Re: Wop There it is (sorta)

Sorry but unfortunatelly I can't find the interior pics of new 997 facelift.. But there are in internet somewhere....

And we could see also the puddle of the new PDK!!
If someone have it please post...

I appreciate every support in that way also.

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

    Hello everybody!

Here we go with 5 new and exclusive "rennteam"-pics I saw in the german Porsche-thread.

With best and friendly regards of our rennteam-member AND upcoming "mule-photo-hunter" Healey During a little "car-chase" in Stuttgart, he was able to take 5 pretty nice shots of the upcoming 997 Targa 4S MkII. Well done, Healey and thanks for the pics... keep going on.

Greetings from the "posting-assistent" of Healey

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

    and the next one...

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

and one more pic for you...

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

...what can I say instead of "again" and "one more pic"?... Enjoy them! This one is a really special shot... a "mirror-shot".

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

... and the last one for today! Thank you, Healey... we're awaiting more facelift-pics from you.

    Greetings

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!
