Re: Alonso blocks Hamilton in the pits in qualifyi

I think Alonso could well end up back at Renault. I always wonder what Flavio Briatore stands to gain when he speaks out on something unconnected with his team and I realised after his McLaren tirade last week that he's probably using that as a tactic to try and get Alonso back.

Re: Alonso blocks Hamilton in the pits in qualifyi

After the Hungaoring incident, why would Alonso want anything to do with Hamilton????

Hamilton has revealed he's both talented and a jerk.

Poor Ron Dennis, I almost feel sorry for him

I saw an interview Ron gave to ITV after the race on Sunday and I DID feel sorry for him.

The guy's been around the F1 block more times than anybody in the business, but I got the impression that he had never experienced a weekend like the last one.

Sometimes you can see a picture more clearly by stepping back from it and contemplating it from a distance, both in time and space. Contemplation works better in a silent ambience.

It would be quite surprising if it'd be Alonso making the move towards Ferrari since he turned down an offer to become their testdriver. On the other hand, like I said before, Dennis escorted Hamilton for so many years I'll be curious if the later will pay back in appropriate constancy in the near future...

The Spaniard said, some people at McLaren still don't expect him to speak English, that's how reserved some people seem to be towards him. After all, pale northern drivers seem to cooperate bettern with McLaren's philosophy than southerners.

And as I said before, the complexity of this situation is not limited to the track but to the further development of the car in general & who to listen to. After all a very enjoyable season, don't you think?

True words, Fritz... but you'd stop inhaling that incense. Or share it with me!

Todt favoured Raikonen because among other things he noticed during his Renault-period how alonso complained towards his team when things don't turn the way he wants, and this season must reenfore his view.
It really is not of the French's taste and Kimi's behavior is entirely different. Plus he had already work with pilots from Finland (Vatanen in Rally during his Peugeot-time) and appreciates their mentality.

So I would be quite surprised if Fernando went to Ferrari.

That being said, never say never and it seems that nor Kimi neither Massa have the talent to be Schumacher's successor.

I also read Hamilton has received a strong offer from Ferrari.

They're talking about 35 million USD to get Hamilton from McLaren.

That's what I'm aiming at, being curious about Hamilton's loyalty to Dennis and the rest of McLaren in the upcoming time!

Re: Alonso blocks Hamilton in the pits in qualifyi

The ferrari / hamilton offer is purely a rumour. It had already been denied by ferrari.

I personally think that Alonsos behaviour off the pure racing is unsportsmanlike. For me it give a good view that he has a lack in self confidence and offers a insight on the quality of his former victories. Looks like he needs very comfortable circumstances to deliver high performance. But as said that is only my own opinion.

It also looks like Mc laren was supporting his move and blockade in Hungary.

Anyway I am convinced that these 2 strong characters will not work in a competitive team on the long run, not even for 2 years. See former examples as Reuteman/Jones (Williams 1981); Piquet/Mansell (Williams 1986/87); Senna/Prost (McLaren 1989/90). One of the drivers or the team has to do a strong call.

To paraphrase Winston Churchill: Never take a rumor seriously as long as it hasn't been denied. And I agree.

    That's what they always do!
Seriously it would appear ridiculous if Ferrari would get their drivers from its biggest opponent, on and off the track.

It is surely Alonso's biggest weakness of character to deal with obvious and false discriminations. Maybe it's just his commitment?

This is a great read about what happened on Saturday in the McLaren motorhome, or Terminal 6 if you like

    Quote:
On this occasion, the most carefully managed team in Formula One and in virtually any sport you may care to think of descended into total shambles. To start with, the new motorhome, dubbed by its critics as (Heathrow) Terminal 6, is simply not designed to accommodate this sort of session with the hacks jammed into a tight space and crowding up against the team members. Then, it turns out, that the two main PR people at race weekends were both on holiday so there was no-one taking control. Added to that, the place was packed as everyone eagerly awaited Ron's attempt to explain away the inexplicable.

Re: Alonso blocks Hamilton in the pits in qualifyi

I was very surprised at Hamilton's outburst, I thought he had a much cooler head than that. In doing so he really hurt himself in the PR war between himself and Alonso- if he'd said nothing, Alonso would've come off as the evil villain (i guess he did anyway) but now Hamilton has really put a black mark on himself. Can't believe he dropped the F-bomb on Dennis!

Re: Alonso blocks Hamilton in the pits in qualifyi

In a way, that ruthless streak actually shows Hamilton to not be the smiling patsy and showed his intense desire to win. Yes of course it was wrong to tell Ron where to go but as he admitted, it was said in the heat of the moment and when he wrongly assumed Alonso was held by the team (which was not the case, it was Alonso being a d***). I think Lewis felt very silly afterwards when he realised the team did not deliberately sabotage his final lap and his anger should have been directed elsewhere.

This kind of determination and focus shows all the hallmarks of a future World Champion. A driver who would meekly sit back and accept the events on Saturday would in my opinion not be a very tough competitor. Hamilton has laid down a marker that he is not 'the rookie' anymore but a serious championship contender who will fight for the championship. The last six races will be very exciting.

One can be a winner without being a jerk.
