For sound my AM Vantage with Larini exhaust trounces them all. Modern Ferrari can't come close.

My Maserati QP with Larini Smiley sound so good that makes every little drive a wonderful and special event, even to go to the grocery down the road I take the Mazzi, it's a down hill so the engine just burbles and gurgles like no other thing I've heard, on my way back up hill I put 2gear and just go from 1500rpm till 3000rpm slowly "rrrooooooohhh" epic sound Smiley

the days of 991 turbo are going to its end....

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

You guys remember when I claimed that the SPORT AUTO Supertest dyno measurements for the 991 Turbo S were incorrect? SPORT AUTO claimed that the test car had 607 hp. I claimed that, based on my information, they had used an incorrect correction factor and many here didn't believe me.

In the latest SPORT AUTO, they finally admit it.  Very interesting article about dyno testing in general (using a 991.1 Turbo S).

I don't recall anyone arguing with you Smiley

The idiots inputted the OBD intake temperature which was used for the correction factor calculation. this was 62 C which is pretty high and led to an inaccurate correction

It's funny, Gemballa and a few of the other not so credible engine guys used to do this trick all the time years ago ie using the post intercooler intake temperature as the Ausauglufttemperatur when they should be using the ambient air temperature going into the air filter,

It is even more complicated now as modern turbo cars like this one adjust the boost constantly and allow for atmospheric pressure and ambient temperature to quite a degree so applying any type of correction is becoming a debatable point.

Somehow that driver was able to do better than I did with the non-S indecision

Fun to watch - interesting that still nearly 5 seconds slower than Porsche's time with GT3.  How was Supertest time of GT3?

Yes, 7.17,11min very fast indeed. On Corsa N0 tires.

    For comparison 991.2 GT3 on Cup 2 N1 7.18min which implies that 991.2 Turbo S is a lot faster.

Just look at speed difference at Döttinger Höhe, 283km/h Vs 299km/h...

991.2 TS is actually faster. Read my comment above.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

the "minor" difference is that the Turbo will shred the street tires in no time whereas the GT3 does not it's cup's - why so many people fall for this is amazing me....

Yeah, it would be interesting to see the wear and tear. Being able to do one hot lap is great, and maybe it's quicker than a GT3, but if your tires are toast that's kinda misleading about whether it's higher performance or not. It means that on average, the GT3 would be quicker.

I doubt that the 991.2 Turbo S could keep up with the GT3 over a couple of rounds on the Nordschleife but is it really necessary? Still impressive time.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Latest info. Production of 991.2 Turbo models will need this year. So, no new cars in 2019. Porsche needs to prepare everything for 992 Carrera models production. Also, 992 Turbo will be introduced earlier then anticipated.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Kreso maybe you have updated info about production of 991.2 GT3RS to EU after factory summer break?

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

991.2 GT3 RS will be produced till February 2019 for sure.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Had my 991.2 Turbo S in the workshop for the summer wheels. Turned out that there was a mandatory change where they installed additional/changed shielding for the hot parts of the engine. According to Porsche there have been incidents where things like forgotten cleaning cloth would make their way to the exhaust system and catch fire - I also heard a story about oil from the oil filter; not sure if this is true. Seems to be not limited to the Turbo.

A cleaning cloth from the customer?  There is nothing to see or really clean back there, just the plastic tray!
