    WAY:

Yup no way I would do it. I don’t mind 4 cyl per se but the sound is like a droning engine sound.

Given, that Porsche produces no cars, how is the supply in your part of the world on "Ts" ? Today, I just compared the "Ts" available at my dealer (ie. 4) and they basically have the same "Carrera" Options, only one has the buckets but the foldable not the GT ones and none have RWS. So, basically all with the usual comfy Options...

What do you mean by “Porsche produces no cars”? The T ordered by dealers here are the same as your part of the world. I have not seen one with RWS and buckets yet. But someone is trying to sell a yellow one with 1200km, with PCCB and RWS. Tempting!

Re: Official: New Porsche Carrera T

well, due to new certification requirements Porsche will commence producing cars again starting September or as it says in the car configurator:

"This model is not currently available for configuration as a new factory order. Please continue to use the Car Configurator to explore the model. For more information regarding availability please contact your preferred Porsche Centre."

Re: Official: New Porsche Carrera T

I understood that they do not produce any MY2019 Ts (or Carrera/S/GTS2wd for that matter) for the EU market due to new emission and testing rules from 1st September. The only Carrera models available here as MY2019 are the 4wd GTS cars (equipped with particulate filters already).

Now the question is whether Porsche continues to build 991.2 Carrera cars after the summer break for RoW markets (certainly not for a whole MY as the 992 is around the corner but maybe for a quarter or two) ?

Re: Official: New Porsche Carrera T

hmm, ok, confusing, isn't ? I have abandoned further "investigations" and stopped looking into a new P. anyway. Looking forward to having some fun at the Porsche Club days in Hockenheim this weekend.

Re: Official: New Porsche Carrera T

Dealers are confirmed that they have Oct and Nov build slots for Carrera T so they are still building them for Australia for FY19.

Re: Official: New Porsche Carrera T

It is my understanding that 991.2 Carrera models with particulate filters and 718s with same will be produced this autumn. GT models, Cayenne/Panamera models with particiulate filters will enter production later on, latest early 2019.

I have a question. On RL people are talking about the privacy glass not being the lightweight glass. Is this true? If so why are Gt2RS privacy glass lightweight?

Re: Official: New Porsche Carrera T

I cannot comment on the GT-cars, but, yes, "privacy glass" replaces the lightweight glass and, FWIW, with the normal glass you get the heated rear window (again) ...it has already been noted that the switch for the heated rear window is being kept for the thinn glass, however, non-functional...so, I don't know what a heated rear window means in your part of the world, but, that is the way it is... Smiley

Re: Official: New Porsche Carrera T

With the ongoing heat wave I am more than happy with the privacy glass (yes I know - it adds a whopping 4 kg to the kerb weight) Smiley Kept me cool and relaxed on my 1,200 Autobahn-km the last three days. I was mighty impressed by the engine's thermo management - I was giving it the beans whenever possible (thanks God everyone is hanging around at the sea or the mountains these days and not on the Autobahn) at outside temps constantly between 38°C and 40,5°C - no problem whatsoever with the oil temp Smiley

well, it is a Porsche, right Smiley ? I had some fun as well last weekend in Hockenheim...though, the heat was tough on the car and the driver, no issues at all, well, I have to car in today for a new set of tires...

I envy you a bit on the "T" - I have closed the file for now, but I am still impressed from the little drive I had last week...

Re: Official: New Porsche Carrera T

Short report of my first T-trackday at the Hockenheimring on Sunday.

After a early 05:30 start we drove on an empty Autobahn to the ring and reached for the first time top speed. From 280 – 300 Km/h you really need a big empty part of the Autobahn…

The trackday was organised by the „Pistenclub“  - you have to pay 475 EUR for one day with „open pitlane“ – this time just for streetcars, which is much more relaxing. The track never was crowded and you can search for your line and your best times without the pressure of racecars in the neck.

The T is very stable on the race track and very easy to drive fast. We drove the GP-Layout of Hockenheim and the T reached the same laptimes as my old 981 Spyder, but I could drive more laps, because the PCCB brakes showed no fade at all – perfect!!!

The 981 Spyder was a little bit more nervous around the fast righthander before the Mercedes Grandstands – the T is rock solid at this part.

I followed my friend in his 991.2 GT3 and I lost almost 2 seconds per lap – no surprise.

After the lunch break , T (driver, no passenger) with ¼  gastank and the stick GT3 (driver+100Kg passenger) with full tank, the situation changed and I could stay at his rear for some laps - but I had to work harder than my friend in his GT3 ;-)  But it was closer - weight means so much on track!!!

You can have fun with the T on the track and pass almost everything from the other german manufactures, but the home of this car ist the backroad or the alpine pass – so also no surprise here.

In the afternoon, we switched cars – and boy…I love the .2 GT3, the engine with 9.000rpms, sound, no understeer, the grip of the cup tires, the aero downforce, the rock hard brake pedal…what a car.

So you get what you pay for – my T is about 125K€ and my friends GT3 ist about 175K€ - I am not disappointed.

I will enjoy the T for more 1.5 years and then a used GT3 will follow to celebrate my 50th birthday.

Thanks for sharing the pics and the brief report. I assume that you have been even closer to the GT3 with PDK ? What was your speed before „Spitzkehre“? - just curious. My GTS reaches around 225 / 228 km/h at this point (and just the same hot sunday before...).

Re: Official: New Porsche Carrera T

    Really nice, thanks for sharing!

What I do notice, after last trackday at Imola, even with PCCB's my pedal started getting softer by the end of the day. And to this day, my brakes haven't felt the same, the power is there but the pedal travel has become longer and softer. Anyone else noticed that? Maybe it's the brakes bedding in, but I prefered the harder pedal I had before.

Re: Official: New Porsche Carrera T

Just one more thing for some who are thinking about to buy a GT3 or RS after their „normal“ 911/991:

    T vs 991.2 GT3

    Insurance: 850€/2.000€

    tyre-set: 1.000€/1.700€

    service: 700€/1.200€

    gas this weekend: GT3 + 40%

So a lot more money for 2 seconds on the track...but worth every cent.smiley

Enclosed a pic of the left front Dunlop-tyre of the GT3 after 450 Km on the track at 35C...(Total 6.000 km).

Too much hot laps without breaks in between...:-(

I drove my Michelins 4s  410 Km on the track (total 6.500km) and they are fine.

Hi Frank - I’d recommend some better brake fluid as a first inexpensive fix.  The factory fill is not very good at the track.

Btw, Porsche factory race cars use Endless RF650 and it’s really good, but there are many options.

Re: Official: New Porsche Carrera T

yup, I use and replace (every year) race brake fluid (Castrol React SRF Racing) and can confirm "no softness" on the track...(unless, the idiot driving my car - me - once in a while drives the pads to the metal, grrrr, not paying attention and then has to replace not only pads but also discs - by the way, that is the main reason I would NEVER have PCCBs on my car...)
