    Breaking her in

    How do you recomnend she (997TT) be driven for the first couple of thousand miles?

    well there are the two varying opinions...i took the time breaking mine in per the owners manual . 2k on the miles never exceeding 4200 rpm, which was still fun 4200 rpm in 6th is 115 mph so...i took several bluroad day type trips and never did any errand or around town slogging where the engine never gets to operating temperature. when done i changed the oil and filter or at least the dealer did... the other method is drive it like ya stole it from day one..pic em

    Im pleased with the results at 3k miles mine hasnt used any oil...runs strong/readily engages ,or says it does, the overboost...zero problems, rattles etc..so i couldnt be happier with my tt

    Whatever you do don't break her in like I did to mine. Mine uses a quart every thousand miles. I kept it under 5000 rpm for the first 2000 miles and warmed her up slowly, and then went for it. Never was above 180 mph.

    My first turbo (03 996 X50) I listened to my dealer and followed the manual by keeping the rpms low the first 1000 or so miles. For my 2nd TT (07 997TT) I broke her in by pretty much treating her like my bitch and dropping the hammer from day one. After 1500 plus miles on the 997TT she is flawless and ready for her first quart of oil. I'm no expert, but there doesn't seem to be an appreciable difference between a gentle breakin period and a just go for it attitude. Then again, I drive my car, literally, every day so it does get a well balanced ass kick'in, I mean workout.

    just reached 1500 miles on my 997TT. I was carful not to go above the 4200 but after I reached 1000 miles I let it rip. have put 1/2 quart of oil in. Car runs great
