    Porsche Insurance - UK

Some UK based members will know that the administration of Porsche Insurance Services has moved from 'Marsh Ltd' based in Cardiff to 'Carbon Insurance Brokers' based in Warrington.  I've only just been made aware of this as the renewal of my GTS Policy is due next month.

The letter I received also included a notification, from the underwriters, that confirmed my "No Claims Bonus Proof" as 10 years.

I phoned the new administrators (Carbon) yesterday, but they were very difficult to communicate with and no conclusive  result, in terms of a new quote, was forthcoming.  They said they would need more information before being able to continue and would phone me back - they didn't..!!  I rang them again and spoke with a different operator who was somewhat more helpful, but still not willing to give me a quote without, as she put it, looking at it in more depth..??

She said she would call me back this morning - but hasn't!  In the meantime, following advice displayed on another Porsche Forum, I contacted a different company - AIB Insurance -  https://www.aib-insurance.co.uk

They were very much on-the-ball and, following a series of questioning, called me back within a few hours with a quote of £650 for fully comprehensive cover plus several extras with an excess claim figure of £500.

I'd be very interested to hear of any other Porsche Insurance users' experiences, in this situation, before I commit myself - many thanks in advance...

John I was with Porsche/Marsh for a number of years, excellent service but found they were not competitive price wise. I've since moved to NFU and couldn't be happier - great customer service and competitive quote for the older driver

    John

I have my 997 and 993 through Classic Line insurance brokers who have excellent policies with Eagle Red Star who specialise in classics and importantly (for me modified).

Your GTS will probably be eligible as a "future classic" like my GT2.... worth a look kiss

    Re: Porsche Insurance - UK

I renewed with Marsh this year (March) but as they are no longer Porsche approved nor guarantee Porsche genuine parts or repairs in a Porsche approved shop I will definitely shop around next year. I’m in Porsche Club GB and will look at their recommended brokers, Lockton. NFU have an excellent reputation so I’ll ask them also.

    Re: Porsche Insurance - UK

I'm with Porsche (Carbon Insurance Brokers) John after having previously been with Marsh for both my Boxster S and Boxster Spyder. The policy is still underwritten by Aviva but the terms are no longer nearly as generous in terms of certain aspects of the cover provided. They had no problem agreeing to a high value for my Spyder and the premiums I obtained were fairly competitive.

I found Carbon to be fairly efficient and they called me back as and when agreed. I was advised that Marsh had failed to hand over a lot of historical customer data to Carbon and that was why they required more information from me when I went through the quotation process with them. They advised that they were unable to underwrite new business and were only able to offer renewals on existing policies which seemed odd. I therefore went with my main insurer, Chubb, when I bought my Panamera.

    Re: Porsche Insurance - UK

Many thanks guys for your responses...

Not long after I posted this here, Carbon did phone me and were much more accommodating this time.  Iain's explanation would account for their needing more information than I'd previously been used to repeating.

Like Iain, my underwriters are Aviva and their quote also contained a value reduction in certain aspects of the cover.

However, the price quoted was lower than last year at £637.87 - including Insurance Premium Tax, Legal Cover and Protected No Claims Bonus.  This is something I really wasn’t expecting in this day and age - a reduction of almost £100 from last year, despite my declaring the addition of two Mods i.e. the SharkWerks Centre Exhaust By-pass and the Zunsport grills.

The excess has gone up from £500 to £700 but I’m thinking, especially for continuity, that this is the best way for me to go - unless anyone thinks their choices can significantly better these terms?

Again, many thanks for the above contributions – very much appreciated…wink
