Re: New Boxster Spy Shots including Interior and Boxing Option

    Thanks Paulo, nice pics.
Boxster does not seem too changed in its general shape which is a good thing. Classic design. And some carry over from the 997 interior (Steering wheel, etc.). Good!
I like the boxing option. Understable from the passenger's point of view though.

Re: New 987 Spy Shots including Interior and PISSED OFF Option

Thanks very much - best pictures I've seen yet of the interior. Right hand drive, too. Passenger got a bit excited, didn't he! As if you weren't welcome!

Re: New Boxster Spy Shots including Interior and Boxing Option

Will the new Boxster's front end be identical to the 997, just as the original Boxster and 996 shared the same design? Or will the Boxster headlights look different?

It seems that the new Boxster will have turn signals in the bumper like the 997. And that's the only part of the 997 I don't like

No, they will not be the same, the Boxter's (987) frontend will look better than the 911's (997) this time.

You are right. The new Boxster's headlights incorporate the fogs and hide the turn signals within the Turbo -like slatted radiator intakes. The Boxster designers have more creative freedom, like for the Carrera GT team - none of the strait-jacketed 911 cues that will never be allowed again to stray from the 1964 version 911 since so many seem so thrilled that the 997 looks like an older car again. Next we'll see EXACT 19 " versions of the black Fuchs wheels

Re: New 987 Spy Shots including Interior and PISSED OFF Option

    Nice find paulorangelmelo!

I noticed they also had the 997 Cab pics on their spyshots page.

As for the Boxster interior, I'm sure it like the 997, you really need to see it in person before passing judgement. The early spyshots of the 987 interior were krap, but this one really shows the detail.

Still not sure if I like the round air vents...

Nice pics Paulo. Those wheels look very VERY good. In silver they will rock

    GMC Envoy or Porsche?

The interior of the Ford Pickups are nicer than both the 997 and the Boxster's.

But what do you expect Porsche to do, when everybody on the Porsche forums, whether its this one or especially rennlist were crying like 1 yr olds about how much they missed their 993's styling after the 996 came out boo hoo hoo.

Well the crying effers got their wish. And its again a crying shame. B/c the 996's interior was the best Porsche has ever made. Flat.

How do you know? have you sat in a 997 already? I can see someone commenting "supeficially" on the outer looks by the pre-release photo going around, but I'm amazed you have been able to judge "how nice" is the interior is already... oh wait, if the 997 interior's is criticised enough, maybe you can protect your 100k 996 "investment" thats sitting in your garage again, right?

Re: New 987 Spy Shots including Interior and PISSED OFF Option

    Get over it carlos.

I assume you've never seen the interior of the GMC Envoy, well here it is and notice the shape of the a/c vents, on the centre console and then compare it to that in the boxster pic below.....they are very similar.

Re: New 987 Spy Shots including Interior and PISSED OFF Option

    compare it to this pic....

Re: New 987 Spy Shots including Interior and PISSED OFF Option

So they have the same shape vents! That's not what you are arguing, remember? You claim the interior of the envoy is "nicer", not that its the same style vents. I agree with Carlos. First sit, touch, feel, the interior of the 997, then pass judgement. You may be right, seeing as how I haven't sat in it either, but that is why I am waiting to judge it. I do have a sneaky suspicion, though, that a $70,000 911 may have a slightly nicer interior than any of GM's products, even the almighty Envoy!

Perhaps, but a $180k Porsche (GT2) has a far lesser interior than a $30k Audi

Re: New 987 Spy Shots including Interior and PISSED OFF Option

The Boxster interior looks OK, but I agree it is pretty low rent compared to the Audi TT

The interiors of the GT2 and GT3 models are meant to be "minimalist" or "purist", like those of their "RS" spiritual predecessors.

If you want a luxury interior you go for a tt with all the Exclusive gee-gaws.

Fritz - I have no problem with minimal, I just don't like cheap plastic parts quality and rattles and squeaks

Here's a photo of my 911 interior to prove I don't dislike minimal

    Point taken!

Re: New 987 Spy Shots including Interior and PISSED OFF Option

There's a big difference between $195K GT2's/$110K GT3's " minimal " -i.e., identical to a $40K base Boxster which is shamed by the $40K Audi TT interior in terms of material quality and the $220K Ferrari Challenge Stradale 's " minimal " interior . The shiny " grained " plastic on the dash is hard to stomach on a $20K econobox, never mind a " special " car. The former feels very ordinary, the latter( CS ) looks and feels special just sitting in the garage.

Thanks, Carlos! Yes, it's road legal (even in USA). 2.7L hi-compression RS motor with Mechanical Fuel Injection, 240hp at 8,000 rpm with all racing Bilstein coilovers, 4-piston Brembos at all corners, 860kg, etc...

Yes, that is exactly the point I was trying to make
