Will the new Boxster's front end be identical to the 997, just as the original Boxster and 996 shared the same design?

No, they will not be the same, the Boxter's (987) frontend will look better than the 911's (997) this time.

GMC Envoy or Porsche?
The interior of the Ford Pickups are nicer than both the 997 and the Boxster's.

The interiors of the GT2 and GT3 models are meant to be "minimalist" or "purist", like those of their "RS" spiritual predecessors.
If you want a luxury interior you go for a tt with all the Exclusive gee-gaws.

There's a big difference between $195K GT2's/$110K GT3's " minimal " -i.e., identical to a $40K base Boxster which is shamed by the $40K Audi TT interior in terms of material quality and the $220K Ferrari Challenge Stradale 's " minimal " interior . The shiny " grained " plastic on the dash is hard to stomach on a $20K econobox, never mind a " special " car. The former feels very ordinary, the latter( CS ) looks and feels special just sitting in the garage.
