    911 Overpriced?

Just wondering which model you think in the 911 line are overpriced?

    C2 C4S? GT3RS? TT? up coming GT2? .....

    Re: 911 Overpriced?

    TT

    Re: 911 Overpriced?

C4S/C4S cab. 91k/98K base. With moderate options close to 115k. Best buy GT3.

    Re: 911 Overpriced?

Maybe all of them. When you think that 911's are pretty much a mix and match of parts for essentially the same basic car, how expensive should that really be? Plus when you consider the hit you take on these things,(depreciation) I'm thinking the $100K price range is a bit much If you subtract the first years depreciation off of MSRP then I think you'd have it

    Re: 911 Overpriced?

all of them. only b/c porsche makes too many of them. if they kept numbers lower, then the resale would remain high and justify purchase price.

the only way to come to peace with these cars is to live in the moment.

    Re: 911 Overpriced?

None of them. They are all good value because produced in high numbers, at least in the US. In europe, it is a different story.

    Re: 911 Overpriced?

I would say all of them are overpriced. Really should the car cost 100K? Heck should any car cost that much? But we keep buying them so I guess Porsche will keep making them and we will keep saying they are overpriced. Like SrCity said the depreciation is killer.

    Re: 911 Overpriced?

The prices in the US seem very reasonable compared to other parts of the world. i just bought a new C4S cab in New Zealand, and the equivalent price is US$196k !!!

    Re: 911 Overpriced?

No. In the USA especially, I believe they're all a good value .

I don't worry much about depreciation because it would detract from my enjoyment, and I plan to keep it forever.

    Re: 911 Overpriced?

The RS vs. the base GT3 I would say.

    Re: 911 Overpriced?

I agree - all of them - it's just that some are a little less overpriced than others... Least overpriced IMO are the Boxster and GT3.

frayed's right - these are indulgences. Don't think about depreciation or you'll never buy one ever. Just enjoy them before you push up daisies!

    Re: 911 Overpriced?

You will not lose a penny until you sell the car. I have a 2005 launch car that I purchased Aug. 2004. I have 16 k on the car and I have decided to make this my daily driver for the next 6 months. I have two other cars I plan to drive in the winter. I am planning on keeping it until the warranty expires in 1 1/2 years.

We can't, at least I had to sign a document that I can't shipd the car outside the country (USA).

    Re: 911 Overpriced?

I think they are all priced right, after all there are very few, if any, that do not sell at all!

The market will judge harshly if any item is not priced correctly!

WOW no way I would pay that much in the US for a Porsche. But I'm sure some would and I hvae no problem with that.

    Re: 911 Overpriced?

The price for P-cars in the U.S. is pretty reasonable. A fairly loaded C2S is about $90K. What could you get for that price, M5 would be the closest thing while it's a different animal all togther. Yes you could get a Z06 or a Viper but those cars just don't appeal to me despite the awsome performance of the Z06.

    Re: 911 Overpriced?

All European build P-cars are overpriced, especially GT3RS.

    Re: 911 Overpriced?

The Boxster, C2, C2S and GT3 are under-priced in many markets including the US and Middle East.

With the US Dollar losing value against the Euro, I doubt that Porsche can afford to maintain these bargain MSRPs in the US and Middle East.

Porsche is making all its money in Cayennes, Caymans, and Turbos. Not to mention the 'silly' and expensive options (like paint and leather trims).

That's right, I started to think the RS, Turbo and GT2 are ripoff. Especially after I have seen the Lambo SL and Porsche started to offer many low-end new models to the market.

Right now, only the GT3 with some upgrade options is best buy.
