    Order the GT3 and consign the 997S when it arrives to your dealer. Don't take delivery. Just have them place it on the showroom floor. You still will have to pay them the agreed price. Give them 3-5% to sell the car (thus they make a profit two ways) and you get your GT3.

    Based on your posts clearly you will not be happy with the S so eat your loss and get what you want.

    Given you are seemingly going to loose cash either way, why not take the 997S now and order a GT3. Then part-ex the 997S for the GT3 when it comes.

    You get a car now which is almost as good and you get the GT3 as soon as possible. You probably wont loose a whole lot more than just walking away from the 997S now and in the meanwhile you are in a 997. You never know, you might just fall for the 997S once again during ownership and end up saving that cash after all!

    I understand and feel the problem Loe is facing but it is indeed also good to understand the problem of the dealer.
    The order is locked so can not be changed anymore. The car was ordered with -20 , something which ,in Belgium at least, is almost never sold/ordered/wanted. So taking this car in stock could be a nightmare for the dealer. He could sit on the car forever and could end up selling it with a very deep discount. So the dealer feels they are not to blame. The customer confirmed the order and Porsche AG confirmed for production. Porsche AG is not allowing any changes anymore and THAT is the reason the dealer is unable to comply to Loe's demand.

    Regarding spending more money : do not get why you say that.
    The difference of the price of a full optioned C2S and a GT3 is small but even than , the dealer will have to put a car in the showroom which will sit for a loooong time (paid) and in return they would sell a GT3. Not such a good thing for the dealer , don't you think ?

    I'm in the market for a 2nd hand 997(s). I have yet to find a black on black -20mm

    Well, Rennteamers, a great chance to help eachother..

    If I remember properly, loe ordered a black/black -20mm, you can take his allocation and maybe work out a little discount, loe's happy, and you'll be happy because you'll be getting a new one..

    I know that's not realistic, but I hope you'll find a similar solution loe.. Search heaven and earth for someone to take your allocation, I hope you succeed!

    Back in 1999 I took delivery of a Mercedes E 300 turbo diesel from then Benson Motor Cars in Annapolis Maryland. An hour after I picked it up I changed my mind. The blue paint was not clear coated and the Cream colored interior was going to be a nightmare to keep clean. My salesgirl was not happy but her manager said keep the car for the weekend . On Monday I took it back and ordered a Black on black With ESP etc. Their statement to me was We want to put you in the right vehicle. One you'll be comfortable with.
    Well their attitude worked for me! I'm presently looking at a new Blue tec E from MB of Annapolis. I'm easy , treat me right and I'm yours.

    This sounds like a good plan. If you play along the dealer will probably be more accommodating in helping you to get into the GT3.

    FWIW loe, 3 OPCs in the UK told me today that they could not get any further allocation of GT3s for MY2007. They also said there is no certainty of when/if GT3s will be available for MY2008.

    Interestingly, one of them said the 997 GT2 will be launched within the next 2 months. They also said that there would be no 997GT3RS in MY2008

    Having said all that - this is dealer talk. It could be total nonsense!

    Not sure, knowing that in Belgium you have to pay a 5000 Euro tax for registration of such cars. Switching to a GT3 quickly after would mean another 5000 Euro...

    Adam, indeed as dg911 stated, taking the 997S for a couple of months will cost 5000euro road registration tax here... (and another 5000euro to bring the GT3 on the road...)

    993S, yes it's specced with -20mm, but if needed, all options can be changed untill 2 weeks before actual production (only transmission & type (S,4S etc) cannot be changed anymore. So dealer can spec it up to suit the common demand.

    easy_rider911, apparently it's still available here, keeping my fingers crossed...

    DennisVR, you're welcome to take my allocation

    Anyway, We'll see what happens... If I were a salesman, I would not let a customer walk away with a product he doesn't want... (and yes, I do agree I created this issue myself, and I'm the one to blame in the first place...) But I'm pretty sure none of you would take delivery of something they don't really want anymore...

    a) it convinced you to get one ...
    b) gave me an opportunity to steer the gt3 as well
    c) been thinking about it a lot, getting more convinced I should get one as well .. now only if I can convince the missus ..

    Me too, I tested drive a 996 GT3 Mk1 and fall in love the very first time! And young girls love it too...
