So true! The many 599 owners who opt for CL63/65 or SL65 for complimentary daily-use/wkend cars, rather than SLR/G/640 do seem affected with herd/pack/unoriginal thought mindset/sad dna issues/costume drama ocd etc..
Maybe SF/Greenwich/london wealth guilt counselors need to team with local herpatologists/ex Dodge salesmen for interventions of taste/envy/status on combo 599/SL65/CL63 fantasy owners before herds of Hyundai/12ga/UFO visitors rampage the 599/SL65 estate/gated areas

On another note, I don't understand why one would complement a 599 with a CL62/65, there are both comfy GTs.
Perfect complement for a 599 would be an Enzo, or maybe a GT3RS/Stradale/Carrera GT.

How can you possibly compare the comfort/safety/roominess of a CL63/65 with a 599/CGT/GT3RS/Enzo??? Given the funds, IMO a MB is a must in ones stable of exotics.

It would seem from your post that you have never test driven a 599.
I have and I am sure VKSF will confirm, the most amazing thing about this car is its ride comfort!
It is more comfortable in sport mode than my 02 Merc SL with ABC sport mode on, amazing but true.
Judging by your post again, it would seem you haven't driven a GT3RS, in normal PASM mode, it is much much harder than a 997, let alone, a 599 of course.

But seriously, a divergence of a full second from 0 to 200 km/h in some tests does sound fishy. It still makes it faster than almost anything else on the road, but I sincerely doubt the 10,3-second 0-200 km/h time when a CGT and the SLR beat it in the straight line (at least at low speeds). That's what 355Arthropod was trying to say.

The SLR for some reason leaps forward in the first meters in the video. Then they were more or less neck and neck. And since these cars are very close performance wise (even in tests) it is quite logical the 599 was unable to catch-up again having the disadvantage of a few km/h and meters, especially on a rather short straight (considering the speed) in contrary to an autobahn.
Besides, there are lots of variables. Driver, was it broken in, did the launch speed suit the gearing etc.

Decision factor for me was price of course.
I've also been told that the auto box of the Merc is not very involving, I will confirm after a test drive.
