    TopGear Carrera GT

    Did anyone watch the top gear episode today?
    Aparting from seeing the audi v8 twin turbo diesel do 800miles (1287.km) with 1 tank!!! which was impressive, i was more impressed with the carrera gt, but what puzzles me is that jermy keeps changing his mind, one day it's better than the slr the next it isn't?!?
    However i was a bit disappointed with the laptime and believe it could have done 1:16~1:17

    Yes, I saw it.

    Why puzzled? Jeremy Clarkson has never been famous for expressing either rational, objective, or consistent opinions.

    They did record the fastest lap time yet on that circuit at 1' 19.8" with the Carrera GT, a full 1.1 seconds faster than the next fastest - the SLR!

    The air gets pretty thin when you are at that high level of performance, so incremental improvements are normally miniscule. On what could you possibly base your belief that the CGT should have been another 3 seconds faster?

    Come to think of it, if they had adjusted the anti-roll bars to reduce oversteer - see a previous post, I think from Mike Valentine - then "The Stig" might indeed have been able to get a better lap time out of the CGT!

    Final conclusion: "5th. Gear" is a far better car show than BBC's "Top Gear". Tiff Needell for President!

    Tiff (who is an ex-racecar driver unlike Jeremy) did actually test the Enzo hard at Fiorano track, so when he gets his hand on the CGT, he would be the first to be able to really compare the two even though we won't get any lap times

    I have a strong feeling that the stig or one of the stigs must have been Tiff, because he truely amazing. It's either him or Damon Hill. However i'm waiting to see what Tiff has to say about the cgt, because he's by far a much better reporter and driver than clarkson.

    I actually have read Daimon Hill has been the stig at one time or another but only rumors

    GT-Car race driver (including Le Mans) Perry McCarthey is the Stig.

    But there were 2 stigs right? or was he both of them?

    only one "stig" (it would be too much of a coincidence of two different people with that bad taste of music )
    but I also heard that it wasn't the same one always. When the offcial stig (Perry McCarthey) wasn't available from time to time they sometimes used another driver.
