Evo Magazine: 360CS vs. 911GT3RS vs. Exige vs. M400

A comparison of these cars over the road. Interesting results to complement our other 360CS vs. 911GT3RS video thread.

    Thanks Justin!

Re: Evo Magazine: 360CS vs. 911GT3RS vs. Exige vs. M400

It proves what many of us have known for some time. You do not have to spend a lot of money if all you want is world class performance.

Re: Evo Magazine: 360CS vs. 911GT3RS vs. Exige vs. M400

Here you go Nick, this little inexpensive toy put any other car to shame but in exchange you may have to give up way to many things for a street car.

Re: Evo Magazine: 360CS vs. 911GT3RS vs. Exige vs. M400

Then again, why stop there, the bike next to it (Crescent Suzuki GSX-R1000) will put an Enzo to shame for $30k (and with more thrills too )

Since you like acceleration figures, take a look at the table:
    - Suzuki 0-180mph = 19.9secs
    - Enzo 0-300kmh = 26.2secs

Re: Evo Magazine: 360CS vs. 911GT3RS vs. Exige vs. M400

I am overwhelmed by your incredible computer talents.

Unfortunately, it does not change the fact that superlative performing production vehicles for track and street use can be had for minimal cost.

My point remains....performance though important and desireable, is only one factor of many in the driving experience. If someone is going to spend a lot of money for a car, he/she would be wise not to pay it solely because of performance.

I was agreeing with you Nick, just reinforcing your point. We don't always disagree

But they are less expesive for a reason, and you do have to give up some things for sole bang for the buck performance, The more expensive supercars, while extreme performers as well, are a more complete overall package as well, and that costs big $$$.

Re: Evo Magazine: 360CS vs. 911GT3RS vs. Exige vs. M400

In the US, track day specials like the Ariel Atom, Radical, XTR, etc. are not road legal unfortunately. Wouldn't that be interesting for the weekends? You could drive your little Ariel to the track if you wanted to, instead of having to keep a tow vehicle with hitch.

Isn't the Enzo less a car than an investment? Most owners would not risk crashing their $1.3million car trying to keep up with a $40k Elise in the corners.

You CAN register a Caterham though! See here:

Re: Evo Magazine: 360CS vs. 911GT3RS vs. Exige vs. M400

Ah yes! I forgot about those. The R500 Evo reaches 100mph in 7 seconds then stops from that speed in 3.6.

Re: Evo Magazine: 360CS vs. 911GT3RS vs. Exige vs. M400

Another english company, Tiger Racing, also does a version based on the Lotus Super Seven like the Caterham, but theirs is even faster than the R500 EVO. The Tiger MkII Z100 uses TWO Suzuki GSX-R1000 engines (over 320bhp) and sequential trannys yielding an incredible 600bhp per ton (R500Evo is 530bhp per ton) and with so little weight it handles like a racecar. 33k english pounds + tax (cheaper than the R500EVO)

Imagine that on track day!, the Enzo's would run and hide in shame!!

Re: Evo Magazine: 360CS vs. 911GT3RS vs. Exige vs. M400

I drove a Caterham last year. This car is absolutely fantastic!
It was the R300 and it was such so much fun.

I think one day (and that won't be too long...) I'll get one of these for the sunny days in the countryside

Re: Evo Magazine: 360CS vs. 911GT3RS vs. Exige vs. M400

I drove one too and it is really fun, but very narrow cockpit - my hip bone was getting pressed into the side of the body (where the door would be if they had doors). They make a larger version (Roadsport SV), but it's less sporty

Yes, right, it is very, very narrow. Getting in and out can be a problem. Heard about the SV as well, but haven't seen it in person. It all depends how tall (and wide ) you are...
