    Boxster Coupe GTS:

As an aside, if the new Porsche 991 GT3 Touring doesn't tick all the boxes for you, please do not worry -- there are plans for several more GT/RS models using versions of the new Porsche Motorsport flat-six engine...

    • 991.2 GT3 RS
    • 991.2 GT3 RSR
    • 991.2 Speedster R
    • 718 Cayman GT4/RS
    • 960 Coupe GT/RS
    • 992 GT3
    • 992 GT3 Touring
    • 992 GT3 RS
    • 992 GT3 RSR Hybrid
    • 992 R et al

...it's worth keeping in mind that Andreas Preuninger and his team have an outstanding reputation of producing cars that attract an orderbook that exceeds the potential supply. The success of GT and RS models also create "halo" models that enhance the overall reputation (and profitability) of Porsche in the industry. From a business and financial perspective, it is entirely logical that Porsche will produce more GT and RS models in the future. The naturally-aspirated high revving Porsche Motorsport engine (with both manual and PDK variants) will continue to be a core part of the DNA of the GT and RS models.

Folding buckets are nice, but not good if you have a tall torso and need helmet room (sit tall with no height adjustment).

Not doubting your knowledge of the Porsche options Grant, but I was just on the GT3 config. and the bucket seats say they have electric height adjustment.  Is this not what you see on the US config?

These are not the folding buckets that Grant was talking about, these are the non-folding 918 style buckets.  The folding style does not have height adjustment and are also not available in the USA, only ROW.

Sun had folding buckets in his 2015 GT3 in New Zealand  [ROW].  They fit fine, same as new rigid ones

I learned yesterday that my car has been built and sitting at the port waiting to be loaded on to a ship which now is scheduled for October 6th. There must be a reason for holding all US cars deliveries to mid November. It's got to be costing Porsche money holding these cars.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Thinking about the Touring Package, I find it interesting that Porsche, as profit driven business, would offer a no-cost option in such a highly restrictive fashion.  It's almost as if Porsche's focus with the option is to indirectly dilute the "effective" numbers of 911Rs without actually offering GT3 buyers a true option to configure their cars to their tastes. I fully understand that the true 911R has lightweight performance features that a Touring GT3 will not possess, but from an admittedly superficial viewpoint the comparison is compelling. Given that I and others are willing to pay >12K USD for the privilege of non standard paint color, I would certainly be willing to pay for the privilege of a wing delete option that allowed me to retain the color, interior specifications, and PDK that I have specified for my GT3.  Frankly Porsche's marketing logic utterly escapes me.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

The 960 needs a flat 8 which hopefully given the modularity between the flat 6 and the flat 4's is not too much of a tall order. That said, if there is to be a common platform between the 960 and other VW group sports cars this may not be possible??

Yes, as far as I heard only Carrera models. Turbo 2019, GT models 2020 or later.

Also, unlike other rumors, there will be a 911 with hybrid tech (maybe Turbo?).

2018 is not set in stone but right now, it seems to be the target.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

The fact they are struggling with 911 hybrid tells you that the technology shouldn't even be deployed in the Panamera and maybe even on he Cayenne. If they wait 7-10 years they might as well go straight to EV.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

I think the arrival of solid state battery technology will enable Porsche to create both Hybrid and EV sports cars. I have no insights regarding the availability of this battery technology, but there is a significant amount funding for research.
