    How fast have you gotten your 911 to go?

    I am curious to know what the fastest other members have driven in there 911 on public roads.

    I am sure you rennteamers in Germany have gone a lot faster than we have stateside. I have driven on the autobahn before and have only been able to go up to 140 mph in a rental going downhill.

    In no way am I promoting reckless driving, however last night at 2:00 am I couldn't resist on open 10 lane stretch of interstate.

    My personal best 164mph on the digital speedo.

    I bet I take the low at 125 mph. On that occasion, I was lucky enough to begin braking as an unmarked state police car was doing a u-turn on the interstate about 1/2 mile ahead of me. Good thing he didn't have his moving radar/laser turned on at the time, otherwise he might have gotten me.

    Nothing to be sad about, on my way back from Georgia one night I hit 137 on the digital. It's the fasted I've been in the 911. We should start a 130mph club Anyways, its not the fastest I've ever gone in a car

    I'm embarrassed to admit : only 136mph at 1am on the M40 motorway on the way home from the Lake District recently.

    I can't wait till I can go to Germany again where I will legally go as fast as the car will go...I'm desperate to find out what my top speed really is ....might make my fuel consumption figures suffer a bit!

    Something else I would mention. I love driving at 82mph because at that speed, I know that there is still another 100mph left in reserve

    145-150 and then I realized how f'ing stupid it is on roadways (deer, debris, deflation); even on the Autobahn. I don't go over 135 anymore; 135 max is plenty for passing.

    997S: 305km/h (digital speedo and needle displayed the same value)
    993: 284km/h (digital speedo) the needle showed more than 300km/h at the same time (the analog speedo ends at 300km/h). Obviously, the old 993 does not use programmable stepper motors for the needle to match the two displayed speeds.

    282km/h (176mph). But that's in my 914... Did 273km/h (170mph) in a C4 in New York a few years ago

    302 km/h (189 mph) in my dad's 3.0 911 RSR. With Daytona gears it would technically go 205mph and while I don't doubt it could I never did.

    180mph - M4 over the Severn Bridge leaving Wales.

    180mph - near Witney, Oxford - my wife looked at the speedo and bollocked me and I've not gone anywhere near as fast since.

    Both times the car felt like there was still more speed to give.

    Anything over 160mph on UK roads with the bumps and the car is too twitchy to be comfortable to be honest.

    I can only say that I do not doubt Porsches top speed claims, frequently.

    a buck fifty three with my dad early one morning in north georgia...the fastest I've ever been!!!!

    MMD's right, with all the deer, road debris, etc.. probably not the brightest thing to do.

    145mph on the A14 between Cambridge and Bury St Edmonds (when I lived in the UK last year) and kept it at a good 110-130 for about 2 hours in the middle of the desert northeast of Reno, NV. A whole lotta nothing out there.

    I was capped at around 110pmh when I drove on the Autobahns in germany since i was still in the break in period. I wish we had roads like that in the US...this car is meant to be driven on them. Car felt great at 130-140...plenty of room to go just wouldn't want to do that with a lot of traffic.
