Does anyone know if the GT3 T has extra sound proofing  compared to the regular GT3 ?

Is ride hight the exact same ?

No extra sound proofing, same suspension and setting.

Argh that does sound tempting! Then again I secretly enjoy that rollcage/boy-racer atmosphere in a GT3.

Don't forget that the Touring does not have the ram-air intakes for extra 20hp at top speed and it has been confirmed by CAR that the Touring has been electronically speed limited to be slower than R and winged cars.

That being said, I am jealous of the Touring's lack of alcantara, striped seats, and it looks classy without the wing...

You can always add the Pepita inserts, I think either that or black/cloth is a must. The stripes just look stupid.

Agree with you on the classy look. I'm working with my dealer to better understand the interior options. Of course, this is all predicated on receiving an allocation.

Grant I will do nothing for the moment and let things ride.  A PTS .2 GT3 w/ a wing and PDK is preferable to any other option available to me at present. It would be foolish to just cancel the order having come this far.

Apparently PTS is not possible with Touring package. I've read this on a german forum. Can someone confirm?

Well the USA  configurator will not let you select PTS and the Touring Package.  But you cannot select exterior headlight washers in PTS either and I was able to get this w/o any problem for my .2 C2S. Hard to know what will actually be possible or not down the road.  Maybe Porsche will charge a premium for any exterior option in PTS?

That is also what my dealer's comments implicated. "Given you have PTS your production slot does not correspond with Touring Package".

It's a shame really. Probably to keep the 911R a little more special yes Although the Touring has the right engine in it.

Well, I certainly don't dislike the stripes enough to pay the required $8,500 to get Exclusive to make me some without stripes Smiley

Yes. Dealer received confirmation from Porsche over a week ago. Was a Dec allocation, but I am told by dealer and Exclusive to expect Spring 18 build. Several CXX requested.

Have to agree. Like the concept of the Touring but find the limitation of colors and options irritating. Just a small detail but also prefer the R's engine cover over the Touring's.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Mithras, you are spot on. My thoughts exactly.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

I found it sad that you cannot configure the new cars yet

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Does anyone have experience with the foldable sports bucket seats?

How do they go for comfort / adjustability vs the 18 ways?  I would go the 18 ways but I don't really lack the backs of the 18 ways, and by the time you put leather on the back of them, the sports buckets are cheaper.  Thoughts?

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Folding buckets are nice, but not good if you have a tall torso and need helmet room (sit tall with no height adjustment).

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

The car is super adorable and is on my list of a future modern sports car. But hey - no PDK just doesnt go with "modern sportscar". What a stupid product strategy

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

It's stupid, just let your customers choose whether they want PDK (or roll bar, or PTS, or paint the brake calipers, or...) or not. At a price, of course.

For me 991.2 GT3 Touring Package with PDK and roll bar would has been the ultimate modern sports car and I wanna experience this interior racing feel without the not-so-under-the-radar wing.

This is exactly what I'm saying and I still hope that Porsche will do the right thing. Though too late for me probably...I am going to order something else soon. Smiley

Not doubting your knowledge of the Porsche options Grant, but I was just on the GT3 config. and the bucket seats say they have electric height adjustment.  Is this not what you see on the US config?

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

As an aside, if the new Porsche 991 GT3 Touring doesn't tick all the boxes for you, please do not worry -- there are plans for several more GT/RS models using versions of the new Porsche Motorsport flat-six engine...

    • 991.2 GT3 RS
    • 991.2 GT3 RSR
    • 991.2 Speedster R
    • 718 Cayman GT4/RS
    • 960 Coupe GT/RS
    • 992 GT3
    • 992 GT3 Touring
    • 992 GT3 RS
    • 992 GT3 RSR Hybrid
    • 992 R et al

...it's worth keeping in mind that Andreas Preuninger and his team have an outstanding reputation of producing cars that attract an orderbook that exceeds the potential supply. The success of GT and RS models also create "halo" models that enhance the overall reputation (and profitability) of Porsche in the industry. From a business and financial perspective, it is entirely logical that Porsche will produce more GT and RS models in the future. The naturally-aspirated high revving Porsche Motorsport engine (with both manual and PDK variants) will continue to be a core part of the DNA of the GT and RS models.
