Unfortunately the weight reduction isn't that great...let's wait and see.

Hint: Not even close to the 100 kg mentioned in some earlier reports. angry

Probably should be moved to a new Cayenne thread.  RC, can you post there?

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

I was at Porsche museum in Zuffenhausen last week (on Friday) and they showing the E3 Cayenne already, true to say it is hardly camouflaged and it looks like the old E2 generation.

If you tap on the first picture and enlarge it, you can get a pretty good idea of the new Cayenne front when you look at the red one on the rear wall.

Doesn't look that different to the previous model yes

Agree, at first glance a disappointment.  I know the taillight strip and interior will mimic the Panamera, but I was hoping for a more exciting overall exterior design.

The rear will be clearly recognizable, the front not so much.

Interior is completely changed though, think Panamera.

No surprises in engine/power choices but Diesel won't be available (at least not at first).

Only three engine choices from the start.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

Spent time driviing a Panamera Turbo yesterday.  Car had sport chronology package and other goodies.  Damn impressive, luxurious and extremely powerful.  I also drove a 4S--no comparison.   I will wait for the Cayenne Turbo to be released, and will make my decision then.  But so far, the Panamera turbo is extremely tempting.  Anyone have the turbo yet?

Panamera turbo will be much faster and handle way better than any Cayenne turbo, but Cayenne will win in utility.

Don't think these 2 cars compare to each other.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

Thanks Tim, and I admit I am on the fence about which Turbo-- the Cayenne or the Panamera.  I have had two Cayenne Turbos (2009 TS and 2015 Turbo now) and they have been superb as powerful family/business cars.  But I am 75 now and feel I need to try something new.  I have owned at least 16 Porsches of all types over the years, but never a Panamera.  So advancing age and another adventure may trump reason and usefulness!

Have you tried a Macan turbo?

You might be the only oddball that prefer the smaller less powerful Macan over the bigger Cayenne/Panamera.

sounds like Panamera turbo sport turismo will fit your criteria.  Happy Motoring!

I had a first gen Panamera 4 for my wife to use and owned it for 4 years.  Most comfortable Porsche to drive daily.  The only one complaint is the small trunk space.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

The GLC might be a good car but they are everywhere on the streets nowadays.

Peole here are quick to dismiss the Macan because they think it is a cheaper worse version of the Cayenne. That's why I am curious to see what people think after test driving a turbo one. My guess is they didn't. To me the Macan is a perfect winter daily driver for commuting, using a Cayenne instead would be a waste.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

Macan is not a cheaper version, it's just a smaller less powerful version. For your purpose it is perfect. Some people prefer a bigger car, or in my case I just prefer 570HP over anything less smiley

Not the GLC 63 (yet) and even if so, the V8 Biturbo in such a small SUV is pretty unique. Brabus will also offer a cheap 600 hp upgrade (dealer will evaluate if it is possible to add this to the lease), so... 😉

I only dislike the Macan for two things: The engine and the brake. Especially the engine has been a huge annoyance since day one. AMG "got" it, Porsche didn't. Giving their Cayenne GTS the Biturbo 6-cyl. basically killed the Cayenne GTS. I get it...environment...fleet consumption...etc. but for me, this kind of closed the Macan and Cayenne "book".

The Cayenne feels more solid and SUV-like indeed but I never dismissed the Macan as a cheaper version of the Cayenne. I just think the engine choice lacks vision but I found an alternative. It is just sad it doesn't come from Porsche. Second time after the R8, it seems that my favorite car brand doesn't build the cars I want/need anymore. Not that it should concern them too much but I'm not the only one who currently has a hard time finding what he wants within the Porsche model range.

In an effort to refresh this thread, and steer it back to a Panamera topic. here are three bad pics of a Turbo I took delivery of today.  Volcano, Burgundy/Black, Sport and Premium packages, carbon bits, etc.  Will post better pics and impressions next week, but for now I think it is just right for a 75 year old guy who thinks he's still young and hip.Smiley
