I got the pictures in the mail from Porsche UK and I just can't figure out whether the S has a wider body than the Carrera. If not, it seems like there's a Pounds7000 difference ($12,000) for 30 ponies, 19" wheels and an active suspension... Am I missing something?

Bodies are identical just the engine and the exhaust pipes are different.

I initially thought that the "S" has a wider body but that's not the case.

RC said the 3.8L motor of the S is an all-new design, so maybe the $12k buys freedom from rear main seal leaks too (or maybe there are new issues to be sorted)

don't forget biXenon headlamps, aluminum face guages, a 'sport' (but strangely ugly) steering wheel, 4 port exhaust tips, and that little metal 'S'!

I can't exclude that it is still somehow based on the "old" M96 but yes, it has been completely new developped.
The 997 Carrera 3.4 engine is still the "old" M96 with a different exhaust system, a different airfilter box and a different motronic software.

As soon as I get more details, I post them.
