I own a 993 and an F430(keeping both).GT3 is coming. The 430 is just awsome and I love it. But I'm really looking foward to the GT3. I feel like it may be more involving with the 6sp manual. On the track the F1 trans is great. But for short runs on the windy back roads I miss the manual shifting. I also think I would drive the GT3 more. The 430
draws a lot of attention everywhere I go with it. My guess is that once I get the GT3, if I had to keep only 1 car, It would be the GT3, for daily fun or track days. Dont get me wrong, the 430 is so exciting from the moment you fire it up to the time you pull it back in the garage. If I wanted ultimate awsome machine, work of art, and the look at me factor, the F430. But for driving it to a lot of places, leaving it parked, or not wanting so much attention, it would be the GT3.

    Very well said!

Understandable the F430 is a great car. But can you put 5000 miles in 4 months in a F430 like I've done in my GT3. You can't drive that car everyday. I rarely see Ferrari's with any high mileage. You can't drive these cars everyday. Consider a GT3, reliable, powerful, drivable, and fun. I would consider a F430 myself but you cannot drive it daily. I don't want to buy anything I can't drive everyday, especially for that type of money.

Yes, you can drive the F430 every day and put 5000 or more in 4 months, if you so wish. I don't know how these myths have been perpetuated for so long. In the US it may not be common to see Ferraris with high mileage but the same is not true in other parts of the world .I've seen a Testarossa and various 328s in Europe with over 100k miles still running and the Ferrari engines seem to be very durable in their street cars. I've owned a 328 GTS in which I put 67000 miles before I sold it and it never gave me any more trouble than the 3.2 Carrera I also owned at the same time. Afterwards, I had a Testarossa in which I put 43000 miles and, apart from the ridiculously high price of the scheduled services and related parts, it never had a problem mechanically (its Achilles heel is the fuse box which tends to get hot and needs replacement at some point). Then I owned a 360 F1 which was also fine and now own a manual F430. I have no problems driving it as often as I feel like and the only obstacle to driving it even more is the worrying thoughts that someone may dent a door when parking next to me or some punk scratching it. I think some people don't put high mileages on their Ferraris for fear of depreciation since Ferraris only hold a lot of their value if their mileage is low... driving them the way I have has cost me in depreciation just like it would with a Porsche. By the way, I still own an '87 3.2 Carrera, a '94 968 and an '06 X51 997S also, so I am a big Porsche fan and can honestly say that both marques are just as excellent. They just have different characters and provide a different driving experience. This post is intended to illustrate the point that there are some out there who value the pleasure that driving the cars they buy brings into their lives more than the cars themselves which, if one thinks about it, is the way it should be... it is not intended to antagonize or offend anyone in here.

i agree with this and it's even more true on newer cars like the 430 which require much less to maintain and are very usable.. actually i think you are more likely to scrape on a 997gt3

F430 is not so much of a problem concerning scraping. GT3 should be worse in this respect.

Now that's what I call lucky!!!!

Re: Feels like I'm gonna cheat on my baby

    Some updates:
Visited my Ferrari dealer yesterday, and they offered me 2 options:

1- A NEW F430 => Rosso Corso / Black, red stitching, F1 gear box for 290.000$ including all taxes, registration + insurance for 1 year. Delivery date November 07.

    2- A pre-owned 2005 F430 same specs as above with 14.000 km for a total of 240.000$ all included... Delivery date +/- 2 months

I might be considering the pre-owned since the f430 is nearly halfway+ life cycle...

Re: Feels like I'm gonna cheat on my baby

yes that's what i meant..i just haven't driven the gt3 yet to able to say for sure
