ALMS St Pete - Porsche loses to Ferrari...again

This is with the NEW 997 GT3 RSRs, right? The days of only 911's in GT2 are over. What will they do to regain the lead?

Personally, I want to see a Cayman-based GT2-class racer. THAT would be exciting.

I am glad Porsche is losing to Ferrari. They have been resting on their laurels long enough. The gauntlet is thrown. The other teams are going to war - witness the move by McNish and the Acura driver on the green flag. Witness the Melo move at Sebring. Porsche better go to war, too, or lose their image as race winners. Time to pull out the stops and slaughter any sacred cows and do what it takes to win.

Re: ALMS St Pete - Porsche loses to Ferrari...again

Makes the race much more interesting. I can't believe that the gt2 series existed so long with only
    one type of car!
Ferrari has done well in this series, two wins out of two starts, last race won by over one lap!

Oh, you have to consider that Ferrari's one year old, and is well developed in all its components. One year of developement is very important. Don't you think???
997 GT3 RSR is beginning its racing career, and is running with temporary gearbox! From the third race will be used the new gearbox, faster and resistent!

Re: ALMS St Pete - Porsche loses to Ferrari...again

The F430GT cars destroyed the competition in the FIA GT series. Ferrari simply has a strong GT car right now.

The Grand Prix ofLong Beach is this weekend. Hopefully the Flying Lizard Motorsports camp can win the short event.

A lesser car competing against the 911? That has not happened since 1970 when a lonely 914 beat all the bigger more powerful 911s at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

That is too bad, since it is really all about results, right? I am sure there engineers inside Porsche banging their heads against the wall as we speak.

And so much for victory at Long Beach. Houson anyone?

GIVE US A RACING CAYMAN!!!!!! (Think they heard me? )

Re: ALMS St Pete - Porsche loses to Ferrari...again

There are a couple racing in PCA Club racing right now. One of UPper Canada Region's best drivers (Ernie Jackobowski) has been campaigning one for the pasttwo years in a stock class. He's podiumed in every race and is usually running with the older 996 Cup Cars.

Re: ALMS St Pete - Porsche loses to Ferrari...agai

Don't forget different cars are handicapped with weight advantages, intake restrictions, fuel capacity, and or tire sizes. Other factors can also be adjusted. The ALMS needs to attract other brands to keep the series going. This happens with all types of motorsports.
