    997 US Preliminary Orders Guides Are Out

    Both the Carrera and S include PSM, homelink, tire pressure monitoring system, auto dimming mirrors, rain sensor, PCM (nav optional) & footwell lighting. The Carrera, with 18" wheels, is actually priced less than the '04 996 comparably equipped!

    If this information is correct ( no offense intended Poursha) than the more I hear, the more I like . It seems as though porsche has been listening and may be answering some of the complaints heard /learned from the 996.
    Anyone else starting to get this warm feeling , or is it just me cooking up new "rationals" to buy a 997

    I don't know about pricing, but otherwise Poursha is correct, I am looking at the order guide right now.

    An interesting sidenote from the prelimenary order guide: the option code for Natural Leather Interior is 998.

    So, my prophecy is that a Natural Leather Interior will be standard equipment on the upcoming 998.

    I also noticed that. My first Porsche was guards red--I can't believe they discontinued it.

    Well, I also noticed there are no Black or Black Metalic either

    I'm sure in the final order guides we'll see Red and Blacks unless they want to charge extra.

    The released C2S pictures are in Guard Red, wierd .

    Maybe Guards Red will be available later in the year? After all, the 997S in the released photos looks like it to me.

    since the 997 doesn't come with a jack and spare, this HAD to be standard.

    Black is a standard color in the guides I have. I have to believe guards red will be added.

    PASM (active suspension) and Sport Chrono package are on page 13 of the guide I have.

    Sunroof is standard on US cars.

    For the US , 3 " greens " now - dk teal, forest , dark olive .
    US buyers can't get enough of those green shades , I guess. And another try at green interior ( palm green )

    PASM and Sport Chrono Package Plus are the 2 "sport" chassis I've heard of.
    Sunroofs have been standard on US Carreras as far back as I can remember, and never listed in the standard equipment at the beginning of the order guide for some reason.

    Prelimenary order guides are just what it is called. When they have the OFFICIAL order guide then you will see all the colors and more options. The first ordered cars will have limited options for the first couple of months production, they have been doing this for several years now. By the end of summer you will see the final version. This order guide will constantly change, just ask your Porsche salesperson, it drives them crazy having to deal with Porsche and screaming customers.

    sport seats yes, but not bucket seats that autocar mentions as a thrid option

    Due to some regulations in the U.S., which I don't know what it is, bucket seats won't come with Porsche models.

    Even the GT2 and the GT3 come with sports seats not bucket seats .

    Noticed that the order guides mentioned " integrated airbags" on the stock 997 seats. Sounds like they are built into the seat's side bolsters to simplify and decrease door construction costs . That could lead to sticky liabilty problems for fitting future imported 997 Euro " GT3" style buckets if they don't have the airbags .

    Porsche has not brought in the bucket seats for DOT reasons ( crash tests ). Not because it would not pass, but because they would have to crash test another car. Our US regulations are sometimes a bit too much. I am sure that the bucket seats are just as safe if not more but they are not worth crash testing unless Porsche knew that they could sell enough of them.
