R8 LED Vs. Xenon

Just got an email from my Sales guy regarding the LED lights.

The AUDI U.S. Rep indicated that the LED lights will be available for the U.S. customers when the V10 R8 arrives in the U.S.

There will be not headlights washers with LED's...

And I really hope that US price for R8 will be at the right level...

If it will be close to 997 turbo, then no question for me-997 turbo-manual with optional LSD!

If I'm not mistaken, the reason why there won't be any headlight washer for the LED headlights is because the LED headlights get really hot and that is also why the headlight housings will need ventilation (as seen in Toyota's hybrid sports car concept). What I still don't understand is why the LED can get really hot as LEDs are not supposed to generate heat (cold cathode)...anyone can fill me in?

Both look fine - wouldn't bother me if I had to option an R8.

Interesting! Please Mike, tell me what bulbs you will install and how it works, I could do it at my Z3 Coupé as well. Just changed the bulbs there too (I admit

) but I'm still not too satisfied with the light.
