On a more serious note, it would actually make a lot of sense for Porsche to build more GT3 RS than GT4. The profit margin for the RS must far outweigh the one for the GT4.

But I cannot believe the 5000-6000 range. I would more guess around 2000.

You are right about profit margin . Porsche being a commercial business, being smart and efficient, they would push it where you make the money . Good point .

On my dealer 's floor there is a Carrera 4s priced above what I paid for my RS . Even more money made there . The GT4 is the beast deal , and what you get for your money , no question there .

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Yes. The profit margin for the 991 Carrera, with much options, must be the best. The sticker price for my C4S was twice that of the GT4. I bet the GT4 now has a higher market value than the C4S.

In the end they are, as machines, so similar. The same mass produced metal and plastic components, but Porsche gets away with the premium for the 911 due to the intrinsic value.

Yup, and the Spyder will be the biggest winner out of all this from a resale value perspective I think. I heard they only produced about a quarter of GT4 numbers for the Spyder. Not sure how true it is. Anyone knows?

Nope, best deal you can get for your money is still the GT3 RS because the value is higher than what you paid.

The best deal was the 918, due to the inclusion in the VIP program in the US.

This is actually interesting: I haven't heard anything about another GT4. So the real winners could actually be the GT4 owners, not the RS owners...in the sense of resale value. Still would love to see a GT4 RS or a GT4.2 (the 430 hp powerkit engine would be amazing, even with a few horses less...) but I guess this time, Porsche won't make it a bargain. The GT4 sold too well to keep the "low" price tag intact. Smiley On the other hand, this price tag actually made it attractive for so many buyers...time will tell.

Maybe thy don't know where to source a cost effective NA engine from.....

The car has been in production less then a year . Maybe 11 month .

If they have built 5000, that would be about 450 cars per month .... Pretty hard to believe .

Prices have come down on the Swiss grey market . They still range from CHF 240k to over 300k , but a few month back the cheapest was 260k  ( so the cheapest is now only about 25k over list price )

you are right. PAG just cut short the original plan for GT3 production numbers. they stopped early with the GT3s production because of the serious issues with the 3.8 engine and shifted the numbers over to the RS. money comes in one way or the other.

Those GT4s seem to be on the grey market. No official dealers last time I checked. I guess most of them speculators.

Having said that, it will be interesting to see what happens now when the production stops and no more cars will be delivered. Will the grey market clear up? Are people paying 25% above list price? Then where does it go?

450 per month would be about 15% of their current daily total output in Stuttgart (approx. 320 cars per day).

i did not say that they have already produced 5000 GT3RS. production is still ongoing and possibly still for a while. up to now i'd guess 2500 or so. remember production was supposed to stop in june, now people have allocations for october.

I may not have paid attention to all your posts Smiley but I said that so far, 5000 cars seem to have been produced or are planned to make it into production but another rumor indicates that when RS production ends, the number may be more close to 6000. Right now it seems that you cannot order a new car anymore, unless the dealer has a production slot available. No matter which number is right, the RS is certainly not a very rare car and the 5000 seems to be quite sure.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

GT3RS was introduced Geneva last year. That's when the order book officially open and people can config the car. So say the production started last April, 8 months last year and if they do indeed continue the production till the end of this year, then another 11 months. The GT3RS can only exists as a 2016 model, so it would have been in production for a total of 19 months. Minus some holiday times and say 18 full months of production run. That's about 270 cars a month in order to hit 5000. Sort of doable.

But say if they indeed are doing 270 cars a month, right now there should be around 2700 cars on the road. But it would seems there is perhaps quite a bit less than that on the road right now, judging from the market. Maybe 2000 might be the closer number or even less than that. and If we use 200 cars a month as the number, then the whole run of GT3RS will amount to ~3500, right where it should be.

The RS is an amazing car, I just wish I could have gone for one but my previous "adventures" kind of limited my car budget, so I have only one single shot at something special in the future. Smiley I can understand why Porsche built so many, I wish they did the same with the 911 R...or better with a PDK equipped 911 R. The Speedster based on the 911 R won't cut it since it is rumored to be limited production as well. Smiley
