Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Pack confirmed for Frankfurt Auto Show...
"Frankfurt will see the premiere of the GT3 Touring Pack. This stealth model combines the inconspicuous aerodynamics of the 911R with the engine and chassis of the 500-hp GT3. You can’t have PDK, but keep an eye out for the tasteful color and trim choices."

That'll annoy some R owners ('investors')!
Shame it's manual only.
Hahaha,
Don't forget the bling for Nick
R today touring tomorrow
Indeed a shame no PDK - much desired for canyon slamming.
With the US GT3 delay, I wonder who else is thinking of changing their GT3 order to touring?

I suspect it'll unleash another avalanche of demand. Surely Porsche will capitalise on this and make more available? Would be madness not to IMO. Indeed why release a new variant if they're all already sold?? No-one would be able to buy it!

bluelines:PDK is efficient and boring, manual is inefficient and exciting...
Manual is actually the more efficient (less power wasted as heat), but just so damn hard to manually shift as fast as PDK

I'm also considering a GTS as an option... Test drove one today. Sports exhaust is actually better sounding than my 991.1 C4S with sports exhaust.

If I wanted bling I would have stayed with Ferrari. That said, I don't want a car that looks like millions of 911's and pay almost a supercar price for it. The touring version of the GT3 is stupid. Better off going with the GTS.

Sounds like Manual with Wing is going to be a rare combination (will have to bubble wrap my car)

That is why the 911R was such a flop and couldn't get rid of them even with a discount I'm guessing you two think the touring version will not sell?

For me, if I am paying money for a sports car, it better have a true dry sump motor. So that is why I looked at the GT3 instead of GTS at the time. Though with the current generation that line becomes fuzzy. So now the reason would be non turbo, so that would mean GT3 with touring pack instead of GTS. AJ

The reason why the R was success is because they committed to selling only 911 of them and charged super car prices. People with money jump at the perceived exclusivity.

Then don't order a GT2 RS

Just because you think this car is stupid, don't let it color your prediction of the demand for such a car in the marketplace. It is strong with very few alternatives now for those who like cars like this.

The R at the auto show, white with red stripes, was the most beautiful 911 I saw in at least decade. That plus the fact that it was limited, makes the transmission choice totally irrelevant, and it was sold out anyway so Porsche could force whatever they wanted on their customer. They could have easily sold 5,000 to 7,000 R looking cars with PDK and rear seats, but then would would have bought an overpriced super high margin GTS or turbo?
