    Thanks Tim!

    Both favorites of mine!
    BUT, why TIP vs. R-Tronic? More natural comparison would be 997 turbo manual(with LSD) and R8 manual.
    Other thing is the TIRES-Hero's are merge between Corsa's and normal Zero's, they have clear advantage over Pilot PS2 on Turbo.
    R8 is IMHO excellent car, but there is only one winner here-997 turbo.

    The cars are in two different leagues IMO...

    I saw the R8 in the flesh today for the first time.. and I have now that car in my 'option car list '
    The car just looks so good in real.. I was not convinced on paper ... It looks a lot of fun..

    Yo mean the R8 superior to the 997TT? The following statement from the article is very revealing;

    "In fact, the Audi R8 makes the Porsche 911 Turbo feel old.

    They go on to justify why they felt that way indicating that from a technical point of view the R8 is more advanced. Factor in styling and limited availability the choice between the two is dramatic. The only area the TT out did the R8 was in acceleration. It is very similar to the comparison of the Z06 and 997TT but without the huge price difference.

    I wonder whether Porsche will do something to reinvent the 911. Auto critic's are noticing the worn aged look of the 911 and beginning to criticize not only its styling but its configuration.

    Suspect in US a loaded 997TT (PCCB/Tip, etc) will cost about as much as loaded R8 when considering cost of $0 down, 3 yr lease for each.....

    Would like closer comparo of steering precision and brake pedal feel/fade resistance of each car; and relative exhaust note charisma....

    Also would like to know how R8's weak tq curve works in typical CA urban fwy (60-100MPH) passing maneuvers (while one is in wrong gear, on a phone call and late to a mtg)....vs 997TT's annoying turbo lag in similar situations....

    Also, would want to know how balanced is each car's steering/chassis damping vs bumpy US fwys and mtn twisties....not just smooth roads in Podunk....

    Agreed! this car looks so HOT in person!

    But I am wondering the resale value?

    When they put the 10 in the Audi then it might be a car I'd consider. IMO it will happen within 18months so I wouldn't get the 8 now. But I'm just guessing.

    I would say the audi is the one with the inherently flawed layout considering its AWD...wierd setup to get power to the front diff...

    I agree with you in that prices on the V8 version will probably tank when the V10 comes out and people trade up
