, Ferrari buyers usually don't care too much about power, they love style, design and the tradition of Ferrari. Not to forget about engine sound, that special Ferrari drive feel, etc. I know several people who had the money to buy both, a Ferrari OR a Lamborghini. They've all chosen the Ferrari. One italian guy even told me that Lamborghini has a "pimp" reputation and he can't drive in such a car in Italy. Not sure if this is true but personally, I'd buy a Gallardo immediately. It is not only beautiful, it is fast too.
But of course Ferrari cars have that special thing you can't deny...you just have to love them.

Right, I heard the same about the reputation of Lamborghini (also from Italians). Perhaps it will get better with the time, now under the lead of Audi.
And your word about style and grace of a Ferrari is surely true, but I think with the upcoming Modena with close to 500 hp and the also due new Maranello with around 600 hp we can't argue about power any longer.
BTW, I doubt that a 2wd Lamborghini Gallardo will have 550 hp, when the 4wd version has 500 hp. Raising the power/litre ratio from 100 hp/l to 110 hp/l won't be easy.

I'm not sure adding HP on the Murc beyond 570HP is going to make up for it, thats about as much HP as it can use productively for lap times and put to the ground, above that its not going to make that much difference in such a car. However, a more powerfull, RWD & lighter Gallardo closing the useful HP gap even more while clearly out-handling the Murc is going to impriove much more. Its like adding 50HP on the GT3 is going to make a bigger improvement performance wise that 50HP more on the 996TT. So a posible Gallardo S with those spec will be the death of the Murc like Rossi said, unless we are talking about drag racing.

????? I agree with the rest of your comments about why some Ferrari owners buy the cars, but I think you're way off on this one.
Come now - I've never felt I needed to apologize, "I don't really care about power, so I'm willing to put up with my 425hp Stradale."
I think very few exotic car buyers look only at the numbers; if I were buying based on numbers, I might wait for the Corvette Z06, tremendous specs for the money.
I expect a new Ferrari to have performance roughly comparable to its competitors; your definition of "roughly comparable" may differ from mine. Do I really care about the difference between 0-60 in 4.0 secs and 0-60 in 3.7 secs? No. Do I really care about a 10 mph difference in top speed? No. Neither of these specs is likely to matter much on a race track at a club track day, where it's really going to be down to the driver more than anything else.
Some here would say that the Carrera GT is a better "value" than an Enzo. I'd take the Enzo because I prefer it to the CGT. Is the Enzo better? I don't even know what that means.
I prefer the look of the 430 to that of the Gallardo, so I'll be buying a 430. The 2 wheel drive Gallardo sounds like a fantastic idea, though, so who knows?
