    seatbelt warning

Quick question, my new car has an annoying seatbelt warning chime that doesn't turn off unless I fasten the seatbelt. Is there any way to disable this seatbelt warning system or is this a permanent feature on all new 911 models?

    Re: seatbelt warning

Dealer can shut it off after the initial chime.

    Re: seatbelt warning

Your dealer can reprogramme the ' bip' and have it off.
You may have to sign a paper stating that you asked to have the sound off and that you will not claim anything if you have an accident....

    Thats the idea!!!
Just buckle up and all is quiet.

    Re: seatbelt warning

My dealer wouldn't do it for me. It's the most annoying thing about this car.

    Re: seatbelt warning

I had it done, I don't need a stupid nanny to tell me to put my seatbelt on, I never forget to put my seatbelt nor anyone that rides with me, even in the back seats. Just like I don't need stickers on the sunvisors about the airbag, nor "objects appear closer thatn reality" inscription of the side mirrors ... oh, the stupidity... whats next, a beeping chime everytime you engage reverse to tell you to be careful and warn others like in trucks

And even though the chime goes away when you buckle up, there are times when you are maneuvering to park the car for example and you don't need the seatbelt like in an uderground garage it drives you nuts, or when leaving a toll quickly so as not to hiold up traffic and you are still buckling up, etc, etc. However if you are the type of person that can forget to put the seatblet on or are not in the habbit (I don't see how but...) please don't get this done.

But notice that when do this, the airbag light will flash briefly when you start the car, this does not mean that there is an airbag malfunction, it does this when you do the seatbelt chime hack.

    Re: seatbelt warning

buckle up, its safer....you never know...

    Re: seatbelt warning

people always "chime" in on these threads and say "just buckle up". well no duh. thats not what he's asking. would you also be ok with the same warning chime being activated if you go over the speed limit? i seriously doubt you would say "just dont drive over the speed limit". and i believe speeding is far more dangerous to OTHERS than not buckling up.

    Re: seatbelt warning

I have no problem if the warning chime goes off when the car is in motion. However, it's silly to give me the dong-dong when the car is parked with the handbrake up.

It doesn't! Are you thinking about the ding when engaging reverse gear?

exactly. I will be contacting the dealer on Monday to hopefully have the warning sound removed. i dont need a annyoing chime to tell me to wear my seatbelt just like I dont need an electronically limited top speed on my car to tell me how fast I can drive

    Re: seatbelt warning

Not only this chime is rediculous, it alsp origins from a Japanese gizmo that came around at mid80s. What a shame!

I'd expect sth out-of-the-box if Porsche was to clearly remind us the buckling up of the seatbelt. At least an intelligent system that could politely identify the driving conditions prior to start ringing directly in our brain, most of the times with not such a good reason.

And remember, this doesn't happen when passengers haven't fastened the belts. Is this safer for them?

    Stupid Americans

We have to be looked after and told precisely what do, or we will do something stupid. And then we sue whoever didn't look after us.

You can't even drink a cup of coffee these days without being publicly warned that it's hot. Reason being some stupid bag put a cup of MacDonald's coffee between her thighs and when she spilled it and got burned (DOH!) she of course just had to blame someone and sue.

Never try and design and make something for the US market as you need to hire more lawyers than engineers to sell something here.

    Rant over!

Perfect summary of the way our society ( but specialy US ) is going!

    Re: Stupid Americans

Have had mine switched off , mainly because i have a harness for track days and didn't want to beep all the way around the first lap , though flashing seat belt stays on for a while.
