    What to buy, 997/S or used 996Turbo

    I know we don't know to much about the 997 and 997S, but lots of info is coming and I was thinking if I had to choose between a 996Turbo or a 997/S , what would be?

    How about you guys

    Turbo power is unique, but I always like to have the last tech on the market, tuff choice, I believe only after driving both I could decide, but I'm sure the 996Turbo ownership would be much more intense and challanging than the 997.

    996 Turbo is still superior IMO.

    I'm not a fan of AWD nor turbo power (even the minimal lag of the 996TT is annoying to me), so I would choose the 997S. However, I'd tempted by a used 996GT3...

    Funny, that is my second option now after a 997S. I always like the latest model as well so 997S looks more appealing but if the 997 doesn't turn out to be a significant improvement in terms of handling then throw a X-73 suspension on a 2nd hand 996TT and the 997 can't think to compete, since a 997GT3 is out of the question for me due to the lack of rear seat and extreme ground clearance. So we will see.

    Well, i've been waiting for some mouths to see the oficial 997 photos so i could decide whether i would go for a 996 4s or a 997.

    I've made my choice and i will buy none of them(at least not the 997 right now).

    I'm going to search here in the market and i'm going to buy either a 2nd hand 2002-2004 carrera 4 or carrera 4 cabrio tiptronic and i'm going to enjoy the summer with my ugly hair in these still great car.

    Then in Jully 2005 i'll maybe order a 997s with less bugs and more options (I'm that kind of guy that really like to have a car full of options even if i dont use them).

    I would like to be not so honest and probaby some of you will ask yourselfs what the hell i'm doing in rennteam board but i'm one of that guys regarding Porsche that power figures are not that important for me.I love the looks of Porsche, i like the fact that i have money to buy one of them even it's the cheapest of the 911 and i like the fact that in the place where i live, if i buy one it will be the 3rd 996 here.So personally i dont care if the 997 only has 30 more bhp than in the 996.

    Call me flashy or whatever you want it but that's what i'm.

    Nevertheless, the turbo is an awsome car.

    I would do it like this: Buy a 997 Carrera (S or not) and in 3 years switch to the 997 Turbo.
    If you like Turbos, then you will probably end up with a 997 Turbo, and if you buy a used 996 Turbo now, then it will be even older later and harder to sell than a 2-3 years old 997. Just my 2 cent.
