    Gauss:

The one from the CUP is rather complex with graded colours and different fonts etc. I was hoping to get the original.

    Have you contacted Porsche Motorsport?

It's not a big deal though.

It is a big deal if you want that exact design. I still think it is possible.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

they will not do it from factory through exclusive as I requested it and they denied.

any good wrap company will do it if you bring them the pictures on multiple view of what you need.

I am thinking going this way as the last PIP with black, red and silver is very nice.

you can have 360degrees view on Porsche website, motorsport section

Thanks, the-missile. Getting the exact colours is already almost impossible. For example, red on your screen looks differently than on my screen. And even if we both had calibrated monitors, the guy who took the photograph, processed his photo with a different red... see what I mean. Of course you can get close, but it will not be like the original.

Have you talked to Manthey Racing? I talked to a guy a couple of months ago and he told me that they (Manthey Racing) had a wrap expert for this kind of stuff, incl. the original designs. Not sure if true but worth a shot asking.

No, seriously the only thing I'v'e done is register interest for a manual GT3 very early on (I think 2014) and asked them to put me on the list should such a thing ever return. It did and I was first on the list, I requested PTS and was approved 4-5 weeks later. It's not that I'm a returning customer, my RS was bought 2nd hand. Smiley

it is just that the production window is not in Feb but in Nov-Dec so everybody approved will have the car earlier or later based on preliminary month allocation

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

I was also asked if I wanted my GT3 already in November, instead of early 2018. I declined, because I have no use for it until early Spring 2018.

So far, everyone I know, has been granted PTS. It's unfortunate for UK customers that they are being left out.

Also, maybe some with PTS have been advanced because prior PTS orders have been canceled due to the price increase.

One could say the same for the long list of cosmetic options on your order.  PTS probably has better retained value (short term or long term) than any of the other options (besides Manual Smiley).  I would have done PTS for $13k if it wouldn't have affected the timing of my delivery.

But you'll enjoy your car more with the options you chose, just as Frank will enjoy his PTS.  Might as well order whatever brings more enjoyment (whether PTS, extended dashboard leather with red stitching, or extra sets of tires and brakes) Smiley

What do you consider to be a long time? I think PTS is quite possibly the most value-for-money option you can buy, period. I wouldn't pay $13K for a very slightly different shade of blue, but I would pay for a color that is very different than anything else and if it's a generally appealing color, you'd get some of it back come resale. Hell, a really amazing PTS will actually sell even quicker too.

Color is like the most important decision on any car. It's often the difference between buying a car and not buying a car.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

I heard recently that  Porsche is planning to outsource PTS painting , anyone heard the same?  (there is a precedent with very few 911 R which were painted outside, one of them was Dr. Piech 911 R).

It was never ever fully in-house.

For some quasi-PTS, like the optional Black/Yellow/Orange on the 911R, those are painted in-house as they are the regular production colours.

But for colours that are truly to sample, they always source it outside, easier for a outside paint shop to paint the body, bumpers and whatever trim needed to be painted the same colour at the same time than trying to match the colour from different suppliers of parts that were painted at different times.

Some out of range old colours are also painted outside for the same reason. Even when there is a strict formula, different pain shop will mix up the paint slightly differently, my Rivera Blue might be slightly off yours. One reason why it's a bitch to colour match colours after a collision and need repaint, the panels never matches completely. Heck, I have seen a Lava Orange GT3RS with the bumper slightly off vs the hood and that car came straight from the factory brand new.

One reason I love black, it will ALWAYS match! Smiley Not even white can be matched perfectly.

Grant using your logic, $25,000 PTS charge would be reasonable.Smiley

Options are relatively cheap and provide enjoyment while in the car. Once in the car, PTS disappears. Also, no one other than yourself knows the color is PTS.Smiley

Noone, PTS is only valuable on resale if you find a buyer that is so in love with the color that he is willing to pay significantly more for a used car. What PTS does is on resale is substantially reduce the pool of interested buyers.Smiley
