I would be only insterested if there is a significant performance difference. It may have another 30 horse or so but if the numbers are close in terms of 0-60 and 1/4 mile, then what would be the point
Point is to attract more buyers to the latest trendy look in car fashion design.
Reason for frequent facelifts: The middle class wants their new Chevy to look differently from last year's model so when they park it in the driveway the neighbors all know they bought (financed) a ___new___ car.
Porsche "screwed up" by introducing those trendy-looking taillights, now they're trying to correct it by changing them ASAP because they look dated as far as fashion design for cars is concerned.
All this stuff is going on at Porsche. Trying to create a buzz to sell even more cars.
POSSIBLE FALLACY: GM and Honda sell huge numbers of cars for every one Porsche sells. Porsche is using marketing strategies that only work with huge production runs.
What they wind up with, IMO, is TWO versions of the 997 which look f'ed up.
Looking back in five or ten years you'll see it even more clearly, if you don't see it now. The 911 might be losing it's "classic" look because of trendiness in it's styling.
