    turbo bumper on a C4s

Just wondering, has anyone out there considered putting the turbo's rear bumper on a C4s?......Do you think it would look nice?.....your thoughts would be appreciated....

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

He's a turbo bumper and rear lid on a C2S, sorry the pictures from a camera phone

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

    another pic

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

Why? So fellow Porschephiles can identify the modder as a TT wannabe?

Also, that silly (some would say f'ed up) aperture shape is still there.

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

Not that simple because I'm gonna buy the TT even though I'm not in love with it. Just like I bought the 997S while not completely in love with it.

How am I gonna send a message to Porsche that their trying to appeal to a somewhat poser mentality suuuuucks for some buyers. (talking about over-styled cars, fake quads, 19s, SC, etc).

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

I actually think it's fine, would be different if he put a Turbo badge on it...

Still prefer to keep it original though ..

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

I feel it gives the car a much more imposing look, kinda like the 996 C4s, not a fan of the rear wing it spoils the lines of the car.....the Porsche dealer is happy to put it on without any warranty issues.....

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

Oh Sheet. From how it was originally posted, I'm confident this is an "anonymous"car. I HOPE this is not a Rennteamer's car. Would feel like a schmuck saying stuff that lessen one-of-our-own's enthusiasm for the money just spent.

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

What is wrong with the front wheel? It looks hollow.

How come the rear bumper, which is wide-body, fits on a C2S?

    The plot thickens...

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

the cars my car, each to there own I get my kicks out of chopping and changing, you may not and if anyone can benefit with advise from me because that, all to the good i thought that is the forums all about

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

if you could take a picture of the side view whenever you get a moment.... would like to see the profile....thanks!

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

Ill post one for you tomorrow

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

Sorry to be so blunt. I've been thinking though. There are no intercoolers on the 997/S so why would you want those vents on the sides?

Also, you messed up the aerodynamics of the car since the rear spoiler no longer matches the front and the auto-deploying 997/S spoiler. In order for your non-turbo car to be aerodynamically correct you must add the turbo wing and turbo front bumper, and possibly rocker panels.

So by changing out the rear bumper like that you've mesed up the aerodynamics of the car.

Is it worth it? I mean now the car is more appealing to YOUR eye but would make engineers at Porsche sick because it has been "de-engineered."

"To each his own," sure but you realize how you fouled the aerodymanics of the car, right?

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

I prefer to keep it "clean look" IMHO

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

you need to talk to porsche about the aerodynamics as the front pu is a turbo pu so the setup would be the same as the turbo

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

I think it looks pretty good. Kinda like the look a TT cab will have.

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

That rear deck with the wing: did the 997/s deck just unbolt and easily replaced by the turbo rear deck? Yes, change out the aircleaner flanges, but is the wiring the same and everything else the same?

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

I think it's fine too. Actually, I think the OEM turbo wing looks a lot better and is more befitting a Carrera (whether Coupe or Cab.) than many of the aftermarket wings available. Gornalad, thanks so much for posting pics of you car. I would love to see more -- especially side view pics.

MMD, I'm not sure what "aperture shape" you're refering to. If you don't mind clarifying . . .

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

yes unbolt old, bolt on new. wirings the same but you have to mod or change air filter box and move the fan 20mm

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

thanks i like it, although i must agree with some of the others about the vents in rear bumper, but its a lot butcher than the std

I wish you well with your car. I'm sorry I might have inadvertantly annoyed you (thought car pic was anonymous).

Anyway, I appreciate your gift of information. When I get my turbo (will trade in 997S) I want to dump the TT wing and slap a 997 rear deck onto it (funny huh?). Thanks to you I have first confirmation that it can be done. (I don't give a sheet about stability IF it becomes a factor only above 140mph!!!)

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

No problems everone has there likes and dislikes i was only trying to help someone good luck with your new turbo when you get it.(the rear wing grows on you)

    This is a frickin'abomination, IMHO.

Disclaimer: I'll buy the car anyway (dammit).

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

More problems with it (off-centered pipe in unabashedly over-styled tip). What WERE they thinking?

    Thanks.

I may not like something but if it makes my friend happy I'll like it because it makes him happy.

Maybe you're right about the wing too... . I'll give it a little time before I start _my_ chopping program.

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

let me know how you get on

Re: turbo bumper on a C4s

ok, so is it a C2S or a C4S? according to the first post it is a C2S, thus how did you fit a widebody rear bumper on a C2S?

Turbo, C4 and C4S all have _same_ track and width. Approx one inch wider than C2 C2S.

I figured that's what you were referring to, but I wanted to be sure. "[A] frickin' abomination" might be putting it a little too harshly, but it definitely could have been done much better. Once you get behind the wheel of your new turbo, I'm guessing the wing and the tailpipe apertures won't bother you one bit. I'm excited for you -- and a little green with envy.
