This is subjective but to me it just looks like it came out of the paint shop with only the primer and didn't get the actual paint on yet yes

Saw a chalk Panamera and looks amazing on that car.  I could see why it wouldn't look the best on a 911.  In person, the color has a warm undertone to it that is not as apparent in pictures (just as fashion grey does).

It looks like old fashioned window putty to my eyes, not very pretty. I have tried to like it but....

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Will there be any extra GT3 allocation for next year do we know?

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Most probably there will be 2018 allocations but wether Porsche is going to prolongate production after 31.8.2018 remains to be seen.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

I am hoping we get more GT3 builds next year hopefully i may get one then fingers crossed!!

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

In any case you should talk to a Porsche dealer and get your name on the list as soon as possible. Dealerships get only a few allocations and there will most certainly be a waiting list at every dealership in the UK. Of course, if production goes on beyond the 31st of August and it's being produced in parallel to the RS, then you have all the chances of getting one, but you'll probably have to wait in line for a long time.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Yeh i have been told if there is extra allocation next year i should be good to get one fingers crossed. I bloody hope i do lol

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

I hope you have that in writing indecision

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

In the UK they do not even need a waiting list strictly speaking . The only reason some have and also take deposits is to hopefully secure more than their fair share of GT's. If I get a call fair do's, if I do not - oh well. ...No joining ""The Brown Nose Brigade"" for me..indecision....

On Rennteam, everyone is a car guy talking cars, quite a few are quite connected and information here is almost never wrong.

But well we do have one who is a Debbie Downer

On Rennlist, most guys just want a car they can drive for a few years without losing money, and they all the same car but doesn't want any others to have it. And if someone else has the car they want and they can't get it, they will find a way to trash it until it's 'worthless'. They will invent rumours and whatnots to try and be a internet hero.

    That's exactly the differentiation. Smiley

Well...guys...I won't argue here. Smiley Smiley

I checked again with the dealer about PTS and she quoted 12K CHF crying

Kind of lost interest now - with an individual colour, a new GT3 is an attractive prospect. Without it I think i'll just have a crack at getting the next RS. Either that or see if any interesting used RSes come onto the market before the stampede for the new one.

Yep, that is about what we pay in the US now ($12,800).  Was $5k with 991.1 GT3.  Even so, I think you should consider doing it if you have an interesting color in mind.  Even at that ridiculous premium, you won't lose money on PTS (unless you choose an undesirable color).  And I think the car that comes with the paint should be very good too Smiley

If you have your sights on an RS, there is no reason you can't own the new GT3 for a year or two and trade it for the RS with minimal financial penalty (while keeping the security of a new car factory warranty).

And maybe you won't like the spec, price, or availability of the RS when it's announced.  And if you do like the spec and price of the next RS, having a new GT3 to trade may help your chances with the dealer to secure an RS allocation (they make money once more).

You all can thank Eduardo for the newly jacked ups prices.

There are more requests now thanks to his guide and Porsche found a new gold mine for charging people. Plus with the PTS process it creates a disruption on the production cycle despite what he claimed otherwise.

Yeah, was 6.5 when I enquired a couple of months ago. I could live with that. Wouldn't need it at all if they didn't have such a crappy standard colour selection.

I agree - I was not pleased with the color palette either (and had no chance to even pay $13k for PTS with my schedule).

They should definitely add some more interesting colors to the palette (non-metallic Greens and Blues in particular).

Don't forget that there is always the option of getting White or Black (free) and then a full body wrap.  3M now makes colored film with the full thickness of a clear bra (much more protective at the track than previous colored wraps).

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

It's probably just a reflection of how much demand comes from the flipper market. It probably didn't occur to them in the last cycle, but the increased awareness now just adds to potential profit. Most genuine buyers here couldn't care less about colour here for instance - the vast majority sold are white.

Nick, I think you're giving more credit than he is due.

When PTS was around $4000 the dealers were up in arms regarding the ordering process and the lack of certainty. The executive committee for US dealers recommended that the price be raised significantly to $10,000. In response Porsche raised it $6900. At a meeting earlier this year the committee raised the issue of PTS yet again and complained it was too much of a hassle for them to process the PTS orders. They recommended raising the price to $15,000 which would discourage buyers from ordering PTS and  provide space for those that were truly interest in PTS and willing to pay for it. In response Porsche raised it close to $13,000.Smiley

FWIW, I was considering the .2GT3RS and ordering PTS. Now that they raised the price for PTS, I probably will pass on the RS. Smiley

There is a good likelihood that the RS will add some more interesting (standard or optional) color choices...

Right (997 2RS didn't either), but last 3RS added Ultraviolet and Lava.  I bet we see at least 2 more for .2 GT3 RS...

Actually while he and I don't see eye to eye, I have great respect for him decoding something Porsche. doesn't want to be decoded.

The process IS designed to be such a mess in the first place, that's why it was relatively 'cheap'. Not many can decode the whole process and order PTS.

Now that Eduardo has decoded the process, and everyone and their mothers are ordering PTS, it makes PTS less special now. The only way to discourage the masses and regain the exclusiveness of PTS is to raise the price.

Members on Rennlist all wanted PTS cause of the perceived 'investment' value of a PTS car, most of them are in it for the money only.

Remember the old days when Exclusive can do just about anything? The sky is the limit and also the size of the wallet. They had cranked out some truly bespoke cars for special clients that insist on ordering something that's exactly what they had wanted. Porsche wants to returning to that root with PTS, only painting cars for clients that really wanted something unique, not regular Joe that just wanted PTS for investment.
