pmarkow:how is the sound (of the car, not of the radio:::))))?
I wanted to write up a detailed review and post better pics, once I actually get time to drive it more
The interior cabin sound is very nice. The exhaust note has that characteristic flat-six howl. A proper howl. More so than the 991.1 PSE which had a harsher tone. I guess the turbos mute those frequencies. Many magazine reviewers referred to the interior sound as being closer to the air cooled models. While I have limited experience of air cooled Porsches, I can image this being a fitting description. Big thumbs up for the interior sound.
The exterior cabin sound, with the windows down, is not as loud as the 991.1 PSE. The exhaust note reminds me of my previous 997.1 Turbo with Cargraphic exhaust, but not quite as loud. It does not pop and crackle as much as the 991.1 PSE, even if you still hear those sounds. You can also pick up the turbos spooling, which I think adds to the sound experience. Compared to the GT4, neither of 991.x PSE are close to the loudness and character in the exhaust note. But you all knew I was going to write that I give a thumbs up for the exterior sound as well, but with the note that it depends what your reference is. A normal Carrera, yes. A GT3, nah.
I must just add that the engine is an absolute gem. The throttle response is great and the turbo lag is difficult to notice. It pulls very hard from 3'500 RPM up to the 7'500 RPM redline, but more as a normally aspirated engine howl than turbo engine wooosh. Nice job by Porsche!

Whoopsy:Carlos from Spain:What is this "snow" thing you guys are talking about
It's frozen water, and is really fun to drive around on, drifting heaven.
Nope, I don't buy it, I'm looking at a whole bunch of water on the ground right now this moment and it doesn't freeze

I think Bluelines' report is spot on regarding the sound and the pull of the engine. I have had a 991.2 GTS Cab since late April (to complement my GT3 RS track toy).
Driving extensively in the Alps on three separate trips and doing all the major mountain passes, this car with this engine has been just terrific fun, especially with the top down.

Now picture that puddle of water frozen up with no humans on top. Big piece of flat real estate to drift cars on
@bluelines:
Congratulations for the new car. Great choice of colour too
It was interesting that you chose option 658 Power Steering Plus. Was this necessary for your driving/parking needs?
Have you noticed any downside in the "steering feel" department at lower speeds?
Many happy and safe kilometers!

I do not think he custom ordered the car, I think he found a good offer and took it. Car is pretty much perfectly optioned in my opinion.

Definitely bluelines' 911 is superbly specified.
However, I would like to know how keen drivers assess the PS Plus option on a 911. Can the system differentiate between a city maneuver and a twisty road hairpin taken at low speed, for example? Is the system speed related or rev related or g force related or all are taken into account?

The nice thing about PS Plus is that it can be turned off at the dealer, if the driver doesn't like it. Pretty easy coding with PWIS. It can even be added to a car that did not have it originally if the dealer cooperates.

I didn't know that. It is a safe bet then!

DaveGordon:I find it pretty distasteful the Porsche charges extra for an 'option' that is simply a software toggle. These types of things should be zero-cost or just a menu preference in PCM
x2 that is pretty low... I always thought there was some sort of hardware involved

Thank you Reginos and nice to see you back. I can't tell if Power Steering Plus has any downside. I had it on my previous 991.1 C4S too and it did not bother me. This car was already configured with, so no choice. Obviously it is not as sharp as the GT4 steering But the ambient interior light and Burmester sound makes up for the lost steering feel
There are no photos because I simply had no time driving the car. Next week the twins are off to the grandparents so I am looking forward to a few evening tours after work Then photos will be taken and posted.

Well, someone has to pay for Piech's diesel mess
Understand they need to pay the (legal) bills but to me, for a company who trades on engineering excellence, to do it by fleecing customers for different calibration maps is prettty low
