    New 911 speed limit

    Hello, I just bought my new c2s last week and have 505 miles on it so far. The OM suggest not to exceed 4200 rpm for the break in period though says nothing about speed limit for the car. I was wondering if it is ok to drive the car over 100 mph now or should I wait until after the break in peroid.

    During engine break-in, I was able to reach 104mph at 4200rpm in 6th gear so, Mike, you CAN have your cake and eat it!

    I think you'll find 6th gear at c.4k rpm = c.128mph so yes, you can drive over 100 mph.

    You can safely push the car during break-in after it warms up properly. Oil temp must be higher than engine (water) temp.

    Phew! I thought this thread was about new news of Porsche putting in speed limiters on their cars like BMW, MB etc.

    As 500+ miles the tires ought to be plenty scrubbed in, so don't worry about it.

    Sorry to muck things up but my BMW 04M3 manual said do not exceed 120 MPH (?) for a certain number of miles (?).

    Can't remember exact numbers.

    Check P-car manual for any mention of max speed. If none then put your foot to the floor.

    Ronnie, you must have been driving down an almost vertical slope to be doing 128mph at 4200rpm in 6th gear

    I was doing around 104mph in 6th gear at 4200rpm on a reasonably flat motorway.

    MMD was doing 101mph in 6th gear at 4000rpm so that is pretty much in harmony with what I was saying....
