    spec advice?

This is my first post. I recently ordered an '07 TT with the following specs, but it's not too late to make changes:

    9Q Meteor Grey Metallic
    AT Black Full Leather
    P01 Adaptive Sport Seats
    220 Axle-Differential Lock Rear
    342 Heated Front Seats
    640 Sport Chrono Package Turbo
XMZ Rear Center Console - Leather
    XMP Leather Sun Visors
    XSC Porsche Crest in Headrest
    425 Rear Window Wiper
431 3-spoke Srt Whl Multifctn lthr
450 Ceramic Composite Brakes - PCCB

It'll be a daily driver with only a handful of track days a year. Did I leave out anything critical? Thanks for any comments or ideas.

Congrats! This is almost exactly the car I initially ordered. I skipped the rear window wiper, but added the 6-disc changer. Now, with the iPod integration module available from Dension, the CD cahnger is probably superfluous. I eventually went with slate because I didn't want to wait for meteor to become available (I ordered in June). I also skipped some of the leather stuff but I admit it will make the car really enjoyable. I'll put the saved cash into mods at some point. You will definitely love this ride. When is it due?

    Re: spec advice?

Very similar to my specs as well. One suggestion - the leather visors will have all the garish safety warnings on them. I decided to get the standard ones and then I got some leather ones from EU w/o the stickers. Nice clean look now and when my great grandkids show the car at Pebble they can put the originals back in place.

    Re: spec advice?

It's supposed to be manufactured at the end of this month, delivery in late March/early April. Much as I've appreciated my '03 C2, I'm really looking forward to the Turbo.

Is the Denison iPod adaptor available from dealers?

    Re: spec advice?

Be sure to get the CDZ Gear shift trim in leather option. It goes a long way in tying the center console to the front console. I say keep the leather sunvisors too.

    Re: spec advice?

Not 100% about the codes' name/number and your preference may be different from mine, but I think 431 is best combined with CPA to get the THICKER multifunction steering wheel. Stock MF wheel is a little too thin.

For Los Angeles parking lots, maybe Park Assist would be helpful? If you don't mind the "look," this option is relatively so inexpensive, and yet so difficult to retrofit afterwards,

    Hope this helps.

Add the sport shifter, it's available again on the TT.

I second that... Short shifter is a must.

    Re: spec advice?

I'd seriously consider the Tip. It's faster and the reviews have been favorable. Recent "Excellence" review was positive on Tip. If the car is a daily driver, as you indicated: do more research on Tip.

    Re: spec advice?

Thanks for the help, I just sent off an e-mail to the dealership adding the sport shifter and gear lever trim.

Did the shifter used to be a dealer-installed item? When I placed the initial order in December, I was told it wasn't available from the factory.

    Re: spec advice?

They had a supply problem on the vendors end, now they are back up(?how long). I would much rather have it factory installed than dealerized. I'd do it myself first.

Nice options I think everyone before me picked up on a few things I noticed (thicker steering wheel). If your doing a lot of leather maybe door finishers in leather? Your build date is so close. How is it that you are able to add/subtract items and not get a possible delay? I am a March 22nd build and my car is now "locked" after 3 small revisions (ok 2 small, one was color..arctic to GT). Is my salesman pulling my leg? Probably. The end of the month is just 2 weeks away. I didn't know you could mess with the options when it got that close? What is your code on the proforma? Mine is MFGCNF which means that my order was assigned a production number. Interesting....

    Re: spec advice?

Giving it another look consider: XCZ Sport Shifter/ CDZ gear lever trim/ get the thicker steering wheel (the code will depend on the type of steering wheel you want. For sport steering its XPA, for multifunction its different..... dont have the codes on hand. Its important to get CUV with the leather center console. CUV gives you the "turbo" logo on top in leather. You can also choose the same crest on the headrests. Lastly I forgot if its on your list but CXB Entry guards in SS lighted (give the car a nice cool touch, especially at night). That should do it unless your into all the leather bits and pieces for example: steering column, instrument surround, door finishers, dome lamp cover and inner sill parts release. Good luck.

    Re: spec advice?

I would not spend money on the sport shifter until you have tried out the stock one...I think it's the best shifter I have ever used. I drove a 996TT with one and found it notchy and hard to get into gear...
The stock shifter has very short throws (similar in my opinion to the 996TT sport shifter) yet it's very smooth.

    Re: spec advice?

My salesperson tells me that the order is, indeed, locked, although I can still add minor options like the sport shifter and gear trim (at higher expense). Order code is also MFGCNF.

    Thanks for all the help.

    Re: spec advice?

Sorry I'm going to have to disagree with raclaims on the sportshifter. It's probably one of the best features of my car, IMHO. It's a bit notchy when cold but once the car warms up, you couldn't ask for anything better. It's like a hot knife slicing through butter. Always a pleasure shifting with the sportshifter compared to the standard shifter.

I could not agree more. I doubt many people would order the SS after driving a standard shifter which is plenty short with all the comfort and ease you could wish for.

Like Atomic I disagree on your opinion on S.shifter.
When cold sometimes the first gear is a little harder to pass, i repeat myselself just a little harder sometime to pass just for 2 or 3 times at most. I would not consider it notchy as far as I am concerned. I have it and sincerely I would take it again with out hesitation. So direct, so precise, so well done! I have more than 5000kms, 2 track days and i couldn't be happier w/it.
