AGAIN I SAY WHITE, WHITE AND WHITE !!!!! 
MMD, TRENDS CHANGE FROM TIME TO TIME, in the past white was probably the colour for ladies etc (I didnt really knew that !!! 
), BUT NOW MY FRIEND, WHITE COLOUR IS FOR THE "MACHOS" AND THEIR BRAND NEW 997 GT3's!!!!
I think once you see these two pics, you'll proceed and order the beast in WHITE !!!!!

Colm's car (who is Colm by the way - he seems somewhat famous?) very beautiful I have to say, but white is a racing colour and therefore I have to still go with that (I'm also tipsy right now MMD); you can just imagine the blue stripe on the car in white - any metallic gre/ay looks to me too much like a normal road car colour. Insufficiently distinctive - too subtle even - for a *beast* like the GT3.

No, it's like a beautifully tailored grey business suit (two buttoned or double breasted of course): classic, perfect, ideal, timeless; never goes out of style.
I haven't seen meteor grey in person but unless it is one of those colors with a split personality when photographed it'll be a compelling Porsche color for a long time to come.

IMO the comparison is so far apart. Speed Yellow will give the car a certain visual character. Meteor grey will give it a totally different exterior character (even though inside, the same ferocious engine beats its rhythm).
If you were comparing Carrara White vs Speed Yellow OR Meteor Grey vs Slate Grey then you might be comparing colours which are IMHO comparable. Do please excuse my frankness [No offence, just trying to give you some meaningful input], but comparing Speed Yellow and Meteor Grey appears to me to be more a question of indecision/confusion on your part as to what the car should visually be for you.
I think you need to sit quietly alone without distraction (preferably close your eyes) and ask yourself what feeling you want the GT3 to create inside you (and possibly those close to you whose opinion matters to you). Ask yourself what mental image first made you want to get the car i.e. the impetus which made you feel you couldn't pass another day without having one....it's the catalyst for the release of that passion that truly matters!
The answer is really inside you...not in some internet poll

In LA or South Beach the car culture yellow would be great.
In my old conservative upscale neighborhood I could NEVER blaze the side streets in a yellow or other flashy-colored machine. The neighbors would wonder WTF happened to my brain; or did I get yet another divorce? Maybe I went out and bought myself smaller, tighter fitting briefs too, which would go along with my new affair... . Just how this neighborhood would think of a yellow Porsche. If the thing had a WING on it I think they'd call the authorities because something "obviously" has gone very very wrong under my roof (of the house).
Nah, just get what you want. Realize that people react differently in different areas. That's why "conservative" looking stuff is so popular: kinda guarantees a known and safe response from others.

Yes, you are right.
In person, I think the Meteor is a sharp colour. And I feel surprise that people said the meteor is close to seal gray? Maybe in the pics, but not in real life.

But don't you think this interior is too busy looking with those red things?
By the way, I love the red belts in white GT3!
