I have a couple of hundred miles on the car - almost all city and rush hour driving - since ECU install. Absolutely no issues whatsoever. It is as tractable as stock, if not better since the "lag" is cut in half once again. No crazy throttle modulation issues or jerky tip-in, no surging or stalling. Car has even passed the "wife test" - after a couple of errands as a driver she suspects nothing.

Even better, I was able to repeatedly get FULL BOOST by 2400 rpm in 6th gear, and boost initiated at 1900-2000 rpm (sport mode). I always had felt cheated seeing the boost gauge finger spike up to 16# and then rapidly retract back to 12#. Now it stays jammed right to the edge!

glad to hear it eclou, I knew you were gonna love it. My program (althought different) has also been trouble free for about 5000 miles now.
I noticed that your car when stock was boosting different numbers than mine and I was wondering if it is normal variation or not. here is what my car did and does now and when you have a chance maybe you can compare yours to mine before and after the program (5th or 6th gear).

stock regular mode: 15 psi from 2000rpm till 6600rpm
stock sport mode: 18 psi from 2000-4000rpm then drops to 15 psi till 6600rpm (even on 91 octane).

ecu flash regular mode: 16 psi from 2000 rpm till 7300 rpm
ecu flash sport mode: 18 psi from 2000 rpm till 7300 rpm

Do you have a stick or tip? I never saw boost #'s like that stock. If I did, I might not have ever done the ECU!

How safe is it for the engine, to extend the redline from 6600 to 7300 RPM?

I was asking myself that same question. On a stock 997, 700 rpm over the red limiter is classified as a possibly damaging over-rev. Must be that the engine has much greater tolerances built in .

    Re: GIAC/ A.W.E. tuned ECU installed - 1st impress

The GIAC tuning allows the option for stock vs 7k rpm redline, and 91 vs 93 octane fuel. I chose stock redline for the very reason of not stressing the valvetrain nor signalling an over-rev condition on PIWIS

eugene, I have a 6-speed maybe others can chime in as well.

It is been about 5000 miles since the flash including some very spirited driving in very hot desert weather and no problems so far.

    Re: GIAC/ A.W.E. tuned ECU installed - 1st impressions

    Eclou,

I just installed the same ECU on my Turbo (EVOMS Stage 4 with GIAC ECU and a Cargraphic Loud Exhaust). The car is now a screaming demon!

I have, however noticed that my cruise control will not come on. I am not sure if this is the ECU or something else. I thought I might check with you before I take it in to the dealer. Does your cruise control work? BTW, I believe your car is a standard, mine is a Tiptronic.

OK, I added a few more things ... like tinted windows, smoked side markers and tail lights, black EVOMS round exhaust tips, painted to match (Guards Red) front and back air spoilers, K40 Radar Dectector with remote bluetooth technology, and clear film in all the right places.

The only thing I am currently debating to do or not is to change out the wheels to a smoked or black type wheel such as the Champion Wheels listed in this forum or maybe Rennworx or Dymag nine spoke wheels???

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Re: GIAC/ A.W.E. tuned ECU installed - 1st impress

The difference is amazing. I took my track car to the dyno today to hone the fuel mixtures prior to this weekend's track event (it is 30 deg warmer than the last event) and the car felt like a lame dog in comparison. This is the same track car I drove just to the AM dealership to test driving an AM Vantage V8 and it spoiled that test completely. Exhaust and ECU definitely take the car to a whole different level.

    Re: GIAC/ A.W.E. tuned ECU installed - 1st impress

Yes, but does your cruise control work?

I never use cruise. I'll check tomorrow

    Re: GIAC/ A.W.E. tuned ECU installed - 1st impress

    OK, my cruise works perfectly
