Don't you think this is part of the strategy?!?
Of course they know people are taking disguised cars with them, and that the cars will be photographed... those are teasers my friend! Just to keep the porsche fans keen on the nearby introduction...

    BTW; thanks for the pic!

    Last one

Re: More 997 Pics, this time he brought the 997 S home

Too bad they have removed the reflector strip connecting the taillights on the S series. I liked it a lot

Re: More 997 Pics, this time he brought the 997 S home

The engine grill/wing looks much better and sportier than the 996's.

But not sure about quad pipes on a 6cil. thats kind of ricey if you ask me, the 911 should be a no-nonsense sportcar not a sportcar look-a-like with extra pipes, bonet humps or grills that serve no purpose but aesthetical ones.

But I get exited just by barely reading "CarreraS" through the tape... should go to a shrink?

Re: More 997 Pics, this time he brought the 997 S home

this is supposed to be the S version...

Re: More 997 Pics, this time he brought the 997 S home

Somewhere I read that the red reflector stripe will be a C4S-only feature in future models.
And Carlos, yeah, I had the same feeling when I read the Carrera S sign... Do you know of a good shrink?

    That would be good news!

Re: More 997 Pics, this time he brought the 997 S home

Probably it will have a different rear light the 4S as the actual one...

Re: More 997 Pics, this time he brought the 997 S home

Look at the interior picture; is this a DSG or Tiptronic gearbox?

I don't see any paddles so more likely the Tiptronic since it would be stupid to use buttons for a sequential.

Don't worry, they gave him the "S" too, so we can publish the pictures here on Rennteam.com.

Since when is the DSG a true sequential shifting?

Re: More 997 Pics, this time he brought the 997 S home

By definition, the DSG (direct shift gearbox) is a true sequential, that is, a electro-hydraulic shift actuated "manual gearbox", as opposed to a computerised manually activated hydraulic torque converter "auto" (Tiptronic, steptronic, speedshift, etc). The only difference with the other sequentials (SMG-II and the magneti-marelli based Ferrari F1, Maserati cambiocorsa, Alfa's selespeed, etc) is that it uses two clutches for much faster shifting and un-interrupted power delivery during shifts. So buttons would be pretty lame IMO and the first sequential fitted street or race car to do so to my knowledge. Only torque converters use buttons, and sequentials from the Audi TT DSG to the F1 race cars all use paddles.

Re: More 997 Pics, this time he brought the 997 S home

Carlos, you believe too much VW/Audi's advertisement.

I wonder if they will wait and introduce the DSG on the 997GT3? or for the 997 facelift?

They are developing a DSG type like rumors said, right RC? have you heard anything more about it?

Thanks... still wondering if we wil get a non-automatic gearbox without clutch on the option list from start.

Re: More 997 Pics, this time he brought the 997 S home

I have feeling that Porsche is doing this intentionally for rennteam.com users

Re: More 997 Pics, this time he brought the 997 S home

    One more.

Carlos, here is a great technical article on the VW/Audi DSG transmission. (Starts about halfway down).
