    The rounded horn pad looks like it belongs on a BUS ! Porsche must have gotten a good deal from the Audi and Lamborghini supplier .
    There is too much bright fake aluminum everywhere - looks like a Nissan or any number of current " sporty " econocars . If they have to have faux metal trim, why not darker , titanium colored , semi-mat finish like on Aston Martins ?
    Also, sport seats still have the current " shoulder blade squeezing " upper side bolsters and minimal lower bolstering. Porsche must be noticing that their customers have no shoulder muscles , 44 inch waistlines and BIGG butts .

    Did you guys notice that the seats are also back to 993 style. Those look like 993 sport seats(look at the center curved design).

    I'm not sure what you were expecting... .

    Personally I believe that the new interior really suits the 911. In my opinion Porsche has always been the Bauhaus equivalent on the car sector - "Form follows function", a clear design without fancy features.
    Nevertheless I would have liked to see a little bit more CGT inspiration such as the shifting knob next to the steering wheel, but probably it would have been diffcult to incorporate a decent sized pcm.
    The only things that really hurt my eyes are the strange clock on the dash and the butt ugly plastic cellphone.

    Anyway since most of you criticize the interior, I am curious what you would have liked to see instead?

    OK... sportier steering wheel... no cheap looking alum just like in the 996... rounder flowing modern inner doors... no gauge in the darn middle of the dash... no AMG type seats - sportier seats... more flowing envolving center dash console/center arm rest console like in mid-engine sportcars cars instead of a 90* angle two piece like a hatchbacks or minivans... center dash more integrated/oriented with the drivers dash and instrument cluster instead on a flat plain center console in the middle like an Audi sedan... no cheap weakly plastic phone like the 996's... correct speaker placement... thats enough for a start

    I certainly agree that any material used in the interior should be of top-notch quality. It's unacceptable to use visible plastic parts in such a pricey car. However in contrast to you I prefer the squarish design of the 997 and it seems to me like a modern interpretation of the 993. Strange that you compare it to Audi. I happen to believe that the interior of the A8 is momentarily the most accomplished. Clean lines, top materials, pure understatement.
    I think Porsche is about understatement as well and it doesn't seem to be a coincidence that dark colours and silver are the most popular colours. IMO the appeal of Porsche lies in this understated looks that doesn't really scream "I`m a racecar", yet still can outperform most flashy sportscars.
    Therefor I believe that a flowing design would rather suit an extroverted car such as Ferrari or Maserati.

    The base non-leather door panels on the 996 looked horrible. They only look decent when they are leather wrapped. So if these are indeed the "standard" door panels, they are a big improvement... What I'm really hoping for is an improvement on the base car. Anything can look/feel good if it's wrapped in leather...
