Like it after the new has worn off?

I already got rid of mine

Is a nice car, but had too many minor sensor problems (perhaps I got a dud?) - the clutch was giving me a little trouble as well and the dealer couldn't locate the problem

Re: Audi RS4 Anyone own one?

Mike..you must of had a monday car

A good friend of mine had one of the very first one around here . He' s got now 40000 km and he is still very happy with it.
He just find it a bit too heavy in twistys..

DAMN! 40,000km already? Where does he drive?!?

I probably got a Monday car with an hang over

Re: Audi RS4 Anyone own one?

I thought Friday cars are the bad ones? Here in Australia everyone is in a hurry to go to a pub that they are not focusing on building a car. Lol. My friend has had his for 6 months and still very happy. But then again he also has a Murcie, Continental GT, S-class etc so this car is just to ferry around his young family when in town. He did mentioned previously that in the twisties it isn't a patch on his 997S.

Good question Jim. I'm trying to decide if I should move up from our S4, the "base" family sedan and get the RS4. But true to form, I wouldn't stop there. No, MTM has come up with a supercharger conversion, using an Opcon/Lysholm Technologies Twin Screw Compressor bolt-on supercharger, with a Laminova intercooler, boosting at 5.8psi (about 0.4bar). It's a self-contained water-cooled system with extremely short flow length, minimizing pressure drop and loss of charge pressure.

MTM advertises performance of 0-100kph in 3.9 and 0-200 in 11.3, with a top speed of 320kph (200mph). Hey, with my Porsche 911 Turbo (996TSCab) going to the 700HP/700lb-ft level, and my Noble M400 becoming an "M500" with about 600HP (she's in Florida as we speak getting the upgrade ), her jealous Audi S4 sister would be happier traded up for the RS4 with the MTM RS4 K540 supercharger conversion-good for 540bhp @ 8220rpm and 413lb-ft @ 3700rpm. My only concern is I've heard of quality issues with MTM work.

Any Audi-philes with knowledge of this? KresoF1? Jim?

    Al

I agree! You've barely driven the Noble

It's been at the shops for upgrades longer than it has been in your garage

Re: Audi RS4 Anyone own one?

Turbo Al, 3 cars and you won't have even 2000hp in your garage? Are you waiting for a breakthrough in recombinant DNA horsepower?

Definitely trade in the S4 for the RS, the extra power brakes, suspension and aluminum front fenders are worth it.
Maybe take it to that Gallardo guy in Baltimore for twin superchargers, why just have one?

Heffner It has your name written all over it Al!

Re: Audi RS4 Anyone own one?

To be accurate, the S4 has about 6,000 miles on it, the Porsche 10,000, and the Noble 1,500. But they are "quick" miles.

With 600+hp - most miles would go by quick

Or not... 65mph limit in NY State. Seriously, where do you drive all these cars?

Do you honestly think I never drive faster than 65mph?

Plus 0-65mph and 0-100mph are alot more fun with all this power.

Plus I have Watkins Glen at my disposal less than 2 hours away.

Re: Audi RS4 Anyone own one?

Could you imagine a world where ECUs were programmed to cut off at 65mph? I think I would slit my wrists.

Thank goodness car manufacturers realise we all like to speed if we feel confident of not getting caught!

That's why there will always be a market for tuners.

    Audi RS4 Ordered

I completed the order for the 2007 Audi RS4:
Misano red pearl effect. With a black (996TSCab) and a blue (Noble M400) car and the 997TT likely to be GT silver, red diversifies the stable.
    Premium package.
    Rear side airbags.
    Brushed aluminum beltline trim.
    Sunroof.
    Front grille filler panel.
MTM K540 (Opcon/Lysholm/Laminova) supercharger conversion good for 540PS (when Roland Mayer releases it-hopefully later this year ).
Milltek exhaust (if it works with the MTM conversion).
Hypershift short shifter (if I think stock isn't tight enough).

Any other aftermarket suggestions from the well-informed Audiphiles here?

    Re: Audi RS4 Ordered

    Congrats Al

    Some ideas..

Consider Euro delivery. Audi USA offers that now.

You might want to get the Euro parts for the starter button to add some start up drama.

Hella makes some really good compact Xenon spot lamps for late nite speed runs.

The horns are feeble due to EU noise regs. Get some Fiamms or 964 horns.

    Enjoy!

    Re: Audi RS4 Ordered

Congrats Al! Your garage needs to be bigger soon

Yes, Jim, Euro Delivery could be fun, but the driveway/house renovation project is slightly delayed, and the house won't be done until next fall, so this summer is shot for getting away for long.

I might try to get the Euro steering wheel with the flat chrome bottom, and the starter button, Xenon spot lamps and horn sound interesting. Any weblinks?

    Congrats Al good choice.

    True, Mike,

The garage started as a full four-car garage, but with the heated driveway completed, the back corner is taken up by the boiler and controls, so it's getting tight.

And after I read your comment, my next thought was: "Isn't that kind of like the pot calling the kettle black?"

What is the make and model of the 964 horn?

If anyone is considering upgrading their horn, I recommend this set which my friends and I have been using for the past fifteen years. This make and model is a tough electric horn (versus relatively sensitive air horns) that has prevented many potential accidents and has been tested by us in a range of weather conditions:

    Re: Audi RS4 Ordered

964 horn info..The Porsche 964 had 2 horns, a high and low tone (and one more for the alarm). The manufacturer was Mixo (now Valeo) and the model name appears to be Stritone. You can get them new from a parts house or used from a wrecking yard.

Or..If you must have RED horns: FIAMM

The Micro DE Xenon Driving Light is the smallest DE auxiliary driving lamp from Hella. Tirerack has them.
    Hella Xenon Drivimg light kit

I dont know who has the Euro RS4 starter button and wiring kit in stock yet. Probably the Audi go fast parts houses
    can source it.

    Re: Audi RS4 Ordered

Strong work, Jim, on that FIAMM link. 134dB horns! I suppose that would guarantee drivers and pedestrians could hear the horns above the sound of the RS4's V8 revving at over 8,000 rpm's with a Milltek or MTM sport exhaust installed.

    Re: Audi RS4 Ordered

Al, get both sets. Use the 964 horns for town use and have a switch for the others. Kind of a town and country horn set up. Older Astons had that so why not a RS4.

    8000 RPM
