    1st Impression; Z4 M VS. CS2

    Well gents: I have now had my M Roadster for two weeks and I have to tell you, I love this car. How does it compare with my CS2. The answer is simple, it DOESN'T. They are two different animals and I love them both. The M is very quick, nimble and it sounds like music when you get on it. The nose seems a bit long when you 1st drive the car but since your every wish become the car's command almost immeidately, you get used to the long nose fast and starting liking it. The steering is very responsive and once in the sports mode, you feel as if the steering is more communicative. The engine revs freely, the OM says not to exceed 5200 RPM up to the 1st 1200 miles. This car can do 8000 RPM without any hesitation. The power curve is almost perfect at low, mid or high range. I can tell you this my C2S is faster on the fwy and off the line. But the M Roadster is very close off the line and should be cut any slacks or it will be on the C2S tail or perhaps even neck on neck in the 1st two gears. If you drive a C2S and one of these puppies pull behind the light next to you, drive your C2S as if you are mad it and leave no room for the Roadster to get the best of you when you are thinking forplay before the kill. Go for the kill instantly. I am 6'-2" and fit in the car without a problem. The M has fantastric breaks, almost perfect. The car becomes alive after 4000 RPM and turns to a mad beast. The seats are comfortable, the top comes down in 15 seconds or less, the thick steering wheel feels wonderful. The gauges are simple and user friendly. I have a new 5 and I hate the I wheel and all the electronic crap in it. The M roadster is very much like the 911 on the inside, in terms of being simple and practical. Many of you may disagree but based on my impression from the Z8, off the line and for less than half a price the M roadster will give the Z8 a good run considering a delta of 70 H.P.

    i really like the looks of the new Z4M coupé, with the m3csl wheels, it will look phenomenal !!!

    thanks for the little write up, I would compare the Z4M coupé with a 2007 boxster S, instead of a carrera S , the carrera S has no substitute !!!

    beautiful indeed. Love to meet some in London, what a classy car as the 997S (I particularly appreciate the new targa).

    Alex, thanks for the gr8 pics bud, nice cars and gorgeous colors indeed I agree that the Z4M should be compared to the Boxter S but I have a CS2 and not a Boxster.
    I have driven the Boxster S as well but the Z4M is faster and cheaper but I am partial towards Porsche while I have always owner both BMW and P-cars.

    I also love the wheels on your Z4 M coupe, we get in the U.S. on the M3 with the sports package. I like them much better than my Z4M Roadster wheels.

    Niiice.

    I drove the M roadster and was delighted.

    I think you have to drive it differently from the C2S to get the same amount of fun out of it. Gotta be more aggressive with it to get it to do what it does best. Otherwise you can miss out and think the car is just so so.

    I think BMW product line is great under the skin, I'm just pi**sed the new models have been uglified (I have an "old" 04 M3).

    The Z cars are "exempt" because they're fun cars (or should I say "characters"). The other new cars (sedans) have no excuse for looking like overstyled cetaceans.

    Absolutely edz61........E.g. the new 5 series is the ugliest new-car I have ever seen------in some colors and some lighting, it is just OK, but generally, day in and out, clean and dirty, the 5 is just plain UGLY---only BMW could sell that thing effectively.

    The 7 series, has now been refined, and is now acceptable. The fact they 'did' it exemplifies the problem.

    The Z4 M is OK, but the hood is much too long for pleasing balance of proportion---likewise the Ferrari Scalatti (or whatever---its late here). I parked my red 997 C2 beside one Z4 , at the dealership, and the Carrera has much nicer lines over all

    ---although the Carrera's wheelbase is a little short for absolute purity of balance---needs 5 cm more length---or-----put the drive out at the middle of engine and gearbox (or is it now---I forget!)---that would improve weight distribution as well.

    The 5 must surely be next for refinements---or maybe it is unfixable -------although, I did see one with an M class body kit, over the regular 5 and that DID help a lot.

    new BMWs

    I agree the new BMWs are ugly. Really wanted to get the M5 but just couldn't do it, due to its looks (headlights) and reliability (go to M5board) problems.

    Picked up a fixed-up face-lifted 750Li instead. Still, having to live with the slow and unrefined iDrive. At least now you can order the pretty BMW Individual interior with the piano black trim and nice merino leather..

    The Z4 looks good with those huge wheels. I wonder if they'll fit my 750?

    I would agree the M edition of the Z is probably the best buy in the whole BMW line. I have driven one and although I was not as impressed as other on here I thought it was a decent drivers car. I just picked up a M6 coupe last weekend and I do 100% that these cars have just too much electronics. Have fun
